I recently published my 900th article for Prep Hoops. It’s an honor and a privilege to cover the best and work for the best. To thank you all for allowing me to write 900 articles, I’m going to give you 900 sure fire Division 1 talents from the class of 2023.
Marlon Barnes Jr. Marlon Barnes Jr. 6'6" | SF Brush | 2023 State #161 Nation OH (SG, Ypsi Prep)
Barnes Jr. is just that different kind of athlete. He excellent in the open floor where he finishes above the rim and with force. Barnes Jr. has a high ceiling that, in my opinion, includes D1 basketball if he so chooses.
John Blackwell John Blackwell 6'3" | CG Brother Rice | 2023 State #185 Nation MI (SG, Brother Rice)
The top level potential is certainly there. Blackwell can flat out score the ball. His game is continuing to grow as he’s become more adept at handling the ball and even initiating the offense.
Braelon Green Braelon Green 6'3" | PG Southern California Academy | 2023 #95 Nation CA-S (SG, Ypsilanti-Lincoln)
Green has all the tools to play college basketball at whatever level he believes is best for him. He’s wiggly, yet powerful, on his straight line drives to the rim. Green was almost unstoppable attacking the bucket for Bates Fundamentals this summer.
Tim Jordan Tim Jordan 6'7" | PF Saginaw Arthur Hill | 2023 TX (PF, Saginaw Arthur Hill)
Jordan is a really bouncy and athletic post player. I love the upside as a prospect that he brings to the table. I feel like as his game continues to develop, Division 1 coaches will come calling for a quality big.
Malik Olafioye Malik Olafioye 6'2" | PG Ecorse | 2023 State #149 Nation MI (PG, Ecorse)
This is as obvious as obvious can be. He already has a laundry list of offers that will continue to grow. He’s explosive offensively, particularly off the dribble. Olafioye is a top 100 nationally in my opinion.
RJ Taylor RJ Taylor 6'0" | PG Grand Blanc | 2023 State #262 Nation MI (PG, Grand Blanc)
When it comes down to it, coaches at EVERY level are searching for a floor general like Taylor. He’s a winner that plays unselfishly and makes the players around him better.
Jakhary Towns Jakhary Towns 6'1" | SG Godwin Heights | 2023 State MI (SG, Godwin Heights)
I’ve always believed that Jakhary Towns Jakhary Towns 6'1" | SG Godwin Heights | 2023 State MI has the highest level in him as a player. His mid range game is that special. He also has the heart and work ethic to go with his game.
Curtis Williams Curtis Williams 6'5" | SF Brother Rice | 2023 State #93 Nation MI (SF, Brother Rice)
Williams is another obvious choice for this article. He’s become a nationally desired wing prospect, and for good reason. There aren’t many better wing players in the midwest.
Sonny Wilson Sonny Wilson 6'0" | PG UD Jesuit | 2023 State #189 Nation MI (PG, UD Jesuit)
I’m a huge fan of what Sonny Wilson Sonny Wilson 6'0" | PG UD Jesuit | 2023 State #189 Nation MI brings as a player and prospect. He gets the ball down the floor quickly and it doesn’t stay stuck in his hands. Wilson makes quick decisions and carries them through with success.
