Alphabetically, here are our Must-See Freshmen:
Carter Vrchota (2024) |6-0 G| Central Cass – Athletic young guard who plays mature beyond his years. He sees the floor well and does a great job of passing other players open. His athleticism allows him to attack the rim offensively and makes him a good young perimeter defender.
Cole Holzer (2024) |6-5 F| Central Cass – A very tall young lefty that has a tremendous upside. He is long, but he is also athletic and skilled with the ball. Cole can hit the jumper from the perimeter. He can handle the rock and put it on the floor to attack the rim. Another young baller to keep your eye on in Casselton.
Dalen Leftbear (2024) |6-1 G| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – Solid handles with both hands. He is a solid defender who gets his hands on the ball. Dalen has great confidence for a freshman. He runs the floor well and can finish on both sides of the rim with athleticism. His game has a very high ceiling.
Deng Deng (2024) |6-3 G| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – A player who seems to keep on growing every day. He is very long and athletic, Deng can go up and dunk 2-handed easily. He has a ton of upside and is a very exciting player. Look out for another outstanding player at Four Winds.
Isaiah Schafer (2024) |6-1 G| Bismarck Century – Averaging double figures in the WDA. That is tough to do as a senior, let alone for a freshman. The offensive skills he has remind me of a senior. He is a great defender for a freshman. Isiah can knock it down from deep. He can do more than just shoot. Schafer is a true scorer; he will only improve as the year goes on. I will not be surprised if he ends the year averaging over 10+ points a game this season.
Jeremiah Sem (2024) |6-1 G| Fargo North – You do not see many athletes like him very often. He moves at a different pace compared to everyone else. Jeremiah is not just an unbelievable athlete; he has developed skills as well. He can handle the rock and create his own shot with a variety of moves. Look out for his 3-point shot, he is a legitimate shooter. He had 29 points in the last game he played. There is no telling how far this player can go. It looks like the future is bright for the Spartans.
Tyson Wick (2024) |5-11 G| Hazen – A starting guard for the Bison. As a 9th grader, he is already a well-rounded player. Tyson is a sneaky good defender who will pick your pocket. He is a solid ballhandler and passer. Tyson has a quick release on his 3-point shot that appears to be effortless. Look out for this 9th grader.
