Alston Mason Alston Mason 6'2" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2021 State KS , senior, Blue Valley Northwest:
The lead guard of the state’s number one team, Mason is just unstoppable going to the hoop. In his last two outings before the break, he put up 28 in a star-studded matchup with Blue Valley North, then lit up Staley with 24.
Andrew Orr Andrew Orr 6'8" | PF Blue Valley North | 2021 State KS , Isaac Patterson Isaac Patterson 6'6" | PF Overland Park | 2021 State KS , Nikko Taylor Nikko Taylor 6'6" | SF Blue Valley North | 2021 State KS , seniors, Blue Valley North:
Their stats may not jump out at you, but is it really fair that one team has these three talented bigs? Blue Valley North is currently second in the state rankings, their one loss coming to Blue Valley Northwest.
Zeke Mayo Zeke Mayo 6'4" | CG Lawrence | 2021 State KS , senior, Lawrence:
Rated third in the state, the Lions have been fueled by 6-foot-4 combo guard Mayo. He has games of 28, 23, 22 and 20 on his resume this season.
Sterling Chapman Sterling Chapman 6'4" | CG Campus | 2021 State KS , senior, Campus:
Chapman started the season hot with 25 against Central. Campus’ one loss was to Andover, the state’s top 5A club. Chapman tossed in 18 in the defeat.
Aidan Shaw Aidan Shaw 6'7" | SF Blue Valley | 2022 State #40 Nation KS , junior, Blue Valley:
Eighth-ranked Blue Valley is led by the 6-foot-7 Shaw. One of the most athletic and explosive wings in the state, Shaw had one blemish on his record, a 14-point night in a loss to Lawrence. Highlight outings include his 24 against Gardner-Edgerton, 21 against Ruskin and 21 against Park Hill.
Howard Johnson Howard Johnson 6'0" | SG Junction City | 2022 State KS , junior, Junction City:
The 6-foot junior has taken his game to the next level for the tenth-rated Blue Jays. He is consistently scoring from the perimeter, in the lane, and in transition. He started the season with 24 against Seaman and 20 against Hayden. In the Jays’ loss to Manhattan, Johnson struggled from the field, but was 9-10 from the line to net 18.
AJ King, senior, Wichita East:
King has been a scoring machine in the early going. He had 23 against Southeast, 22 against Maize and 21 against Bishop Carrol. He isn’t just scorer. He gets after it on the defensive end, and knows how to find open shooters.
