Here are three takeaways from Christian Brothers’ win.
Great ball movement by the Purple Wave.
From tip-off, Christian Brothers moved the ball exceptionally well. The Purple Wave were making touchdown passes each time they pulled down the defensive rebound. They were also executing in the half-court setting. With senior point guard Eli Federman running the offense, everyone else moved well without the basketball, cutting to the basket and coming off screens ready to shoot.
Senior guards Reese McMullen and Harrison Kelly made shots from the perimeter Tuesday night and did a good job getting open. McMullen made two 3s in the third quarter and Kelly connected on one as well. McMullen finished the night with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists. Kelly added seven points and three steals.
Junior point guard Chandler Jackson led the team with 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists and went 4 for 5 from the free throw line. The team also got solid contributions from Hunter Pratt (seven points, eight rebounds and four assists) and Zion Owens (six points).
As a team, Christian Brothers recorded 22 assists on 30 made field goals and had 13 players to score Tuesday night.

Barnes, at 6-foot-5, has been having a solid season for the Dragons and Christian Brothers knew it had to make Barnes’ shots tough. A lot of his shots were contested, but still good shot attempts for Barnes. The senior finished with nine points on a night his team needed him to be spectacular.
Christian Brothers has marquee wins during its winning streak.
The Purple Wave have impressive wins over Ensworth, Houston and Collierville, three teams that are off to solid starts to the 2020 season.
Despite the final score, people shouldn’t overlook the Dragons’ 7-1 start to the season. Barnes will not have many more nights failing to reach double-digits in scoring. Collierville has guards Jordan Jenkins, TJ McNeal, Danny Perry, Madison Taylor and Jordan Coleman, all of whom are capable of contributing offensively.
