Harlan Obioha Harlan Obioha 7'0" | C Hoxie | 2021 State KS , senior, Hoxie (pictured):
When you’re 7-foot and 285 pounds, you’re going to dominate on the football field and on the basketball court. Particularly in one of the smaller classifications in the state. Obioha was all state in football at the 8-man level. Now he’s leading the #1 basketball team in 2A. Last year he was good for 21 points and 11 boards an outing.
Luke Detwiler, senior, Lyndon:
The state semifinalists in 1A football have gotten off to a strong start featuring many of the same players. #4 Lyndon is going to feature Miles Kitselman prominently. But so far in the early season, Detwiler has lead this balanced club in scoring. He put up 19 vs Burlingame and 18 against West Franklin. The 5-foot-11 guard generally does a little bit of everything.
Brady Frickey, senior, Ellis:
The #5 Railroaders are off to a 6-0 start, and Frickey is leading a balanced club. The 5-foot-10 senior accounted for 17 points last season, earning third-team 2A as a junior.
Dameion Hatten Dameion Hatten 6'3" | CG Sedan | 2022 State KS , junior, Sedan:
Sedan has only played two games thus far, but they are recognized as #9 in the state. The 6-foot-3 Hatten is off to a remarkable start with 35 points against Chetopa, followed by 29 against Field Kinley. We’ll see if Hatten can keep up the pace when the schedule gets busier.
Tyus Wilson Tyus Wilson 6'6" | PF Sterling | 2021 State KS , senior, Sterling:
Wilson is a player everyone should know about. His athleticism is remarkable. He regularly clears 7-foot in the high jump, and is elite in other track and field events as well. On the court the 6-foot-6 senior leads Sterling in the #10 spot. Last year he tallied 18.2 points and 13.6 rebounds a contest. Of course, with that type of spring, he also swatted 5.5 shots a game.
Britton Dutton Britton Dutton 6'0" | SG Argo Comm | 2023 State KS , sophomore, Ellinwood:
Unranked Ellinwood is relying heavily upon Dutton, who garnered honorable mention all-state as a freshman. The 6-foot-1 guard is averaging 24.2 points per contest, including a 38-point torching of Fairfield. In a recent matchup with #5 Ellis, the sophomore put up 18 in the loss.
