Continue ReadingThe Hoop Review event was held in Oakland a few weeks ago, since I won’t be attending any events outside of my state. Prep Hoops NorCal is taking a deeper look into the prospects who participated in this event. This list gives an update on the c/o 2022 forwards, and post area prospects who I was able to see at this event.
Bronson Burrow 6’7 Post, Ripon.
Burrow one of the top post players in the 2022 NorCal class had a productive weekend. The big burly prospect was very active inside the paint, using his body well to take up space, and score around the basket with good post area moves. His rebounding efforts led to put back points, and starting the transition break with solid outlet passing. He hustles up and down the court, has presence on the defense, and plays good low post defense. A player to watch.
Leo Wagner Leo Wagner 6'5" | SF West Campus | 2022 State CA-N 6’5 Wing/Forward, West Campus.
Wagner started off with a bang, then settled in to play consistent basketball throughout this event. He showed an all around skill set that allows him to be a player that has to be accounted for on the court. He has good size, and is effective on the wings, and transition when it comes finishing for points around the basket. Wagner has good body control using pumps, fakes, and spin moves. He hit several shots at the elbow and short corners.
Dajon Lott Dajon Lott 6'9" | C Elk Grove | 2022 State CA-N Jr 6’10 Forward/Post, Elk Grove.
Lott is an intriguing prospect to me. At times he wonders out to the perimeter. He has shown good passing, and a set 3pt shot at the top he’ll make on occasion. My point is, at 6’10 Lott Jr can dominate a game in the post right now. He’ll bulk up, and improve his foot work in the post with time, he has a soft tough around the basket, and uses the back board. He has presence on defense, changes shots often. With continued development, his stock will rise.
Matt Radell Matt Radell 6'6" | PF Campolindo | 2022 State CA-N 6’6 Forward/Post, Campolindo.
Radell has gained a few pounds, that should help his low post game on both ends. He works hard when he’s on the court, he understands the game, and what he can do to help his team. Radell has an improved jump shot 15ft and in, he’ll makes shots at the elbow, short corner, and finish in the paint. He brings a bigger body, and some toughness in the post. He’ll rebound, and hustle up the court. He sets solid screens and passes well.
Mason Harris 6’8 Wing/Forward, Alameda.
Harris, 6’8 prospect with length, and a long wingspan will have to add some muscle to his frame, and be more aggressive. Harris has a developing skill set that might allow him to have some success as a perimeter/wing prospect at some point. He handled the ball, shot a few 3’s, and mid-range jumpers. He had some success using the two dribble drive to get to the paint. He’s a good passer out of the post, his drop step, and turn around jumper helps him score inside. He’ll challenge some shots with his length inside. He’s on Wright’s Watch list.
