Here’s my list of guards who I thought played well over the 2 day event. These prospects played four games in two days, and showed a good amount of consistency.
Cameron Walker Cameron Walker 5'11" | PG Turlock | 2021 State CA-N 5’11 Point guard, Turlock
Walker continues to play with a good amount of consistency. The point guard can also move over to the off guard spot and be effective as well. He plays with controlled tenacity, and doesn’t get overwhelmed by the moment. He plays with good balance and doesn’t get sped up. A good facilitator in the half court, with vision, solid passing, and unselfish play. Walker can slide and dice his way to the bucket for finishes. He has a good mid-range jumper, and can hit the 3pt shot.
Jojo Murphy 6’1 Combo Guard, Piedmont c/o 2022
Murphy is an active player who’s most effective in a fast pace game. He likes to push it in transition when the opportunity arises, or get it on the wings in transition before the defense gets set. He has a good amount of offensive skills that will allow him get points. Murphy makes good hard cuts to the basket without the ball, he uses screens to his advantage. He’s a heads up defender, not real fast but positions himself well and gives good weakside help.
Dean Saleh 6’0 Guard, Oakland Tech
Saleh looks like one of the guys this team can go to when they need a bucket. He’s a good shooter who can create his own space with the dribble to get his jumper off, or come off screens for shots, he has no hesitation when spotting up for open 3’s. He’s not fast, but uses good footwork, and body to beat his man on the drive from the baseline, he’s thick and can handle the contact. He plays under control with good balance most of the time.
Ja’Rod Webb Ja’Rod Webb 6'2" | SG Florin | 2021 State CA-N 6’2 Guard, Florin
Webb a two sport athlete (Football) is a solid body player who takes it strong going to his left to finish through contact. He prefers left, but has the handles to finish with either hand, on both sides of the rim. He looks to establish his mid-range jumper to set up other ways for him to score. He gets good lift on his shot, he has a nice up and under move to get his shot over bigger players in the paint. At 6’2 with good strength he can post up, and rebound from the guard position. A good on ball defender.
Josiah Frank 6’0 Guard, Pittman
Frank was a solid contributor, who showed good all round skills to an effective guard. He’s capable of playing both guard positions. He plays within the flow of the game, taking quality shots. Frank has solid handles and a good body that lets him get into the paint. He has a good mid-range jumper. He has good lateral movement, and foot speed to be a good on ball defender.
