1A teams were led by some impressive efforts before the holiday break:
Jayden GarrisonJaydenGarrison6'1" | CGLittle River | 2021StateKS, senior, Little River:
The tip of the spear for #1 Little River is the 6-foot-1 guard Garrison. He is strong, smooth and explosive. No wonder he was all-state in football. He is following up his first-team 1A basketball honors as a junior by lighting up opponents with 25.4 points a game. He already has two 30-point outings for the deep and talented Redskins.
Aaron Skidmore, senior, South Gray:
Like Garrison, Skidmore earned first-team honors in football. The 6-foot-3 athlete is now using his power and versatility to lead the #2 South Gray hoops team. He earned first-team 1A a year ago and is back at it on the court, all the while collecting college football offers.
Drew StutesmanDrewStutesman6'2" | CGMadison | 2022StateKS, junior, Madison:
Leading #3 Madison is do-everything combo guard Stutesman. Yet another all-state footballer, the 6-foot-2 Stutesman is leading a balanced attack at Madison. He is averaging 17.7 per game, including 25 against Yates Center. He was second-team all state in 1A a year ago.
Devan McEwenDevanMcEwen6'2" | SGLebo | 2021StateKS, senior, Lebo (pictured):
No surprise McEwen is having a stellar senior season for #5 Lebo.

Vance Shewey, senior, Meade:
The #10 Buffalos are led by the 6-foot-4 Shewey, an honorable mention pick in 1A last season. The senior has tallied at least 20 points in three games this season. His diverse stats sheet shows his versatility: 18.3 points, 9.5 boards, 3.2 assists, 3.5 steals, 2.7 blocks.

The abundance to quality sophomores in 1A deserves mention:
