Jimmy Baisden Jimmy Baisden 6'3" | PG Sussex Hamilton | 2021 WI – 2021 – PG – Sussex Hamilton
Baisden didn’t play last season, but has now returned to the Chargers. He started the season opener against Wauwatosa East and made an immediate impact, taking a charge on the game’s first possession. Baisden gave Hamilton a strong presence on both ends. He got his hands on passes, forced turnovers, and knocked down timely 3-pointers. Baisden had two triples in crunch time that helped the Chargers remain in striking distance.
Patrick Baldwin Jr. Patrick Baldwin Jr. 6'9" | SF Sussex Hamilton | 2021 State #2 Nation WI – 2021 – SF – Sussex Hamilton
Obviously, a lot of work still has to be put in, but Baldwin is a potential No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft type talent. The five-star wing went off for 43 points in a loss to Wauwatosa East. At 6-foot-10 with his skillset and smooth shooting ability, there isn’t a thing a defender can do to get Baldwin uncomfortable. Baldwin was knocking down triples from well beyond the arc, hitting off-balance, contested jumpers, and attacking the rim with a vengeance. Baldwin has worked on his body and was very aggressive going to the rim, throwing down some sensational dunks. Although Hamilton trailed for most of the second half, Baldwin just wouldn’t let his team die in the end, sparking a furious rally to make things interested.
Leon Bond Leon Bond 6'5" | SF Wauwatosa East | 2022 State #62 Nation WI – 2022 – SF – Wauwatosa East
Bond had 20 points in a win over Sussex Hamilton. Defending Baldwin for most of the game, Bond had about 25 minutes of really good work. Although Baldwin had 43 points, a majority of those came very early and very late. After getting hit in the mouth a little bit by Baldwin, Bond responded with 15 first half points. He continues to show a very high upside, knocking down a mid-range, turn-around jumper and taking two defenders off the bounce before throwing down in traffic. A plus-athlete that’s coachable and has the right intangibles, Bond could pay big dividends down the road at the Division 1 level.
Steven Clay Steven Clay 6'5" | SG Menomonee Falls | 2022 State #193 Nation WI – 2022 – SG – Menomonee Falls
When it comes to putting the ball in the hole, there might not be a better pure scorer in the 2022 class than Clay. The 6-foot-5 wing just has so many things you can’t teach — long arms, a killer instinct, and the ability to knock down shots with a hand in his face. Most of the time, Clay can get any shot he wants. Skilled off the bounce, Clay uses his length well at the rim. He’s also a dangerous sniper that will pull-up with ease and as previously mentioned, won’t give the defender any chance to affect his shot. Clay scored 28 points in Wednesday’s win over Marquette.
Nick Ferge – 2022 – F – Marquette
Unranked player that caught my eye, Ferge had 14 points in a loss to Menomonee Falls. The 6-foot-5 junior is versatile with his ability to play and defend multiple positions. He brings the ball up the floor, can shoot it from distance, and take advantage of mismatches down on the block. Playing just three varsity games last season, Ferge appears to be a vastly improved player who could surprise in a very tough Greater Metro Conference.
Jay Hinson Jay Hinson 6'3" | CG Wauwatosa East | 2021 State WI – 2021 – SG – Wauwatosa East
Hinson hit some big shots that helped the Red Raiders get some breathing room in the second half during their win over Sussex Hamilton. The 6-foot-2 senior is a rise-and-fire guard that shoots it without hesitation. He’s very good at making defenders pay when they go under screens or spotting up in transition. Hinson, who’s worked on his body and added some noticeable size, took it to the rim with aggression as well en route to 20 points.
Brian Parzych Brian Parzych 6'2" | PG Wauwautosa East | 2021 State WI – 2021 – PG – Wauwatosa East
Parzych scored 15 points against Hamilton. 13 of those came in the second half as the Red Raiders rallied for the upset. The Northern Michigan commit also had a key 3-pointer late that stopped a run. The type of player that doesn’t need to score to be effective, you feel Parzych’s impact on the floor. A strong defensive presence, Parzych is a tone-setter on that end and plays with a noticeable chip on his shoulder. A lead guard who can probe, always dribbles with a purpose, and more often than not makes the right basketball play, Parzych has the capability to be a four-year contributor and integral player for NMU.
Tanner Resch Tanner Resch 6'0" | PG Hamilton | 2021 State WI – 2021 – G – Sussex Hamilton
Resch had 15 points in a loss to Wauwatosa East. Still really like him for the Division 2 level, although there were five D3 programs in attendance praying to the basketball gods that he falls. In the end, Resch is likely too good for a scorer to not be a scholarship player. He’s a sniper with in-the-gym range. Although he’s limited size-wise, Resch can still put the ball on the deck and has excellent body control/touch to play in the paint. Resch also displayed a better mid-range game and more point guard skills on the ball than in the past. Wit his body type and lateral quickness, I also don’t have many concerns about Resch being a defensive liability at the next level either.
Alex Singleton Alex Singleton 6'4" | PF Wauwatosa East | 2021 State WI – 2021 – F – Wauwatosa East
Singleton had a team-high 27 points to lift the Red Raiders past Sussex Hamilton. 18 of those 27 came after halftime, including a steal and slam that ignited a big run after Tosa East trailed 39-33 at the half. A prospect that always provides energy, Singleton was carrying the Red Raiders at times. He was able to score 1-on-1 on the block, slash from the perimeter, and if he was left open from beyond the arc, would knock down his 3-pointers. While he’s undersized and a little unorthodox, Singleton would be a great addition at the Division 3 level and someone who can elevate a program.
Seth Trimble Seth Trimble 6'3" | PG Menomonee Falls | 2022 State #50 Nation WI – 2022 – PG – Menomonee Falls
Make no mistake, Trimble is definitely in the conversation for the state’s top ranked junior. Trimble certainly helped his cause during Wednesday’s win over Marquette in which he dropped a game-high 36 points. This kid just gets the point guard position. He gets his teammates involved, surveys the floor, doesn’t settle offensively, and the ball rarely sticks to his hands. Also an athletic freak, Trimble can climb the ladder and dunk in traffic and protect the rim as a shot blocker. If that outside shot gets more consistent and he develops that in-between game off the dribble, I think you seriously have to think about Trimble claiming that No. 1 spot.
