The McKinney Boyd Broncos grabbed a 43-41 road victory over the Hebron Hawks on Tuesday, and the iSchool of Lewisville Cougars hosted and defeated the Waxahachie Indians 87-83 on Friday in an exciting matchup that featured several highly touted prospects.
Here are seven standout juniors from this past week’s action:
Keyonte George Keyonte George 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2022 State #4 Nation FL | 2022 | 6’4’’ Shooting Guard | iSchool of Lewisville – The No. 2 ranked prospect in our Prep Hoops Texas 2022 rankings and his team got off to a slow start vs. Waxahachie. However, the second quarter was a different story for George. He buried three three-pointers in the quarter as well as converted a three-point play at the foul line to help erase an 11-point deficit and tie the game after one half. Furthermore, George was lights out from the line, making all 10 of his free throw attempts. The junior shooting guard finished the night with a team-high 24 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Kendall Alexander Kendall Alexander 6'5" | SF Mckinney Boyd | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 6’5’’ Small Forward | McKinney Boyd HS – Alexander was impressive against Hebron. He possesses a strong frame that benefits him when he gets to the basket. He shot the three ball well in this game, hitting three triples in the first quarter, all of which came in a variety of ways. Additionally, the McKinney Boyd forward looked great as a rebounder, going after the basketball at its highest point and aggressively pulling it down. Alexander appeared to be a man amongst boys on Tuesday. He is a prospect with a ton of upside.
Trae Clayton Trae Clayton 6'5" | SF Dallas Kimball | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 6’5’’ Small Forward | iSchool of Lewisville – Clayton is a versatile wing who can get you a bucket in a number of ways, and he did exactly that against the Indians. The No. 13 ranked junior in the Prep Hoops Texas rankings looked to be at his best when slashing his way to the hoop for layups, consistently finishing through traffic all night vs. Waxahachie. He also converted several putback attempts and drilled a beautiful mid-range jumper off the bounce while moving east-west. On defense, Clayton has no trouble guarding multiple positions and is a terrific on-ball stopper. The two-way player ended the game with 18 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
Prince Banks | 2022 | 6’0’’ Combo Guard | Waxahachie HS – Banks played well on Friday night. The 2022 guard proved that he can score from behind the arc, showing off a good-looking shot from the catch. He also did a good job of running the floor in transition and attacking the basket. At the other end of the court, Banks held his own while defending iSchool of Lewisville’s talented assortment of perimeter players.
Kerry Alexander | 2022 | 5’8’’ Point Guard | McKinney Boyd HS – Alexander is a twitchy ball handler at the one spot. His quickness allows him to blow past defenders with ease. The Hawks had a tough time staying in front of this guy on Tuesday. The junior floor general was fearless when it came to putting the ball on the floor and getting downhill. He played well on defense too, forcing turnovers when his team desperately needed stops in the fourth quarter. This is a tough-nosed dude at both ends.
Cruz Davis Cruz Davis 6'3" | PG Huntington Prep | 2022 WV | 2022 | 6’3’’ Point Guard | iSchool of Lewisville – Davis is an excellent shooter both inside and behind the arc. He possesses good height for the point guard position and looked comfortable shooting off the dribble from anywhere on the court. He drained a pair of threes in the third quarter vs. Waxahachie, the first from the catch and the second off the bounce after utilizing a screen. The junior guard made a stop-and-pop mid-range jump shot in transition too. Davis ultimately accounted for 16 points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.
Jayden Calloway-Brown | 2022 | 6’8’’ Power Forward | iSchool of Lewisville – Calloway-Brown came off the bench and provided some huge minutes for the Cougars on Friday. He looked great as the screener in pick-and-roll scenarios, scoring several times after slipping to the basket. The 2022 power forward displayed soft touch near the rim as well as the ability to finish over the top of defenders on the block. Beyond that, Calloway-Brown has a tall and wiry frame at 6-feet-8-inches, enabling him to be a mobile big man who runs the floor and moves well in space. He ended up with 11 points, going 4-for-4 from the field and 3-for-4 at the free throw line.
