#1 – Lamar Washington Lamar Washington 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State #128 Nation AZ (2022 Jefferson)
The truth of the matter is Washington would be the #1 ranked player in the class at any position but he’ll be a James Harden-like point guard at the college level so that’s where we are listing him. There’s very little the 6-foot-4 junior can’t do right now and he’s proven that this summer and fall with the Oregon Prospects and the US Basketball Academy squad on The Grind Session. In our mind he’s a Top 100 nationally ranked player and more high-major scholarship offers should be on the way.
#2 – Samaje Morgan Samaje Morgan 5'9" | PG Churchill | 2022 State OR (2022 Jefferson)
Morgan is the top pure point guard in the traditional sense in the state and he used this summer and fall to cement that status. The 5-foot-9 floor leader simply runs the show in pushing the tempo and getting teammates set up, while also having the ability to take over and score when needed. Morgan is a leading candidate for Midwestern League player of the year this upcoming season as well as 5A First Team All-State honors.
#9 – Noah Ogoli Noah Ogoli 6'2" | CG Tualatin | 2022 State OR (2022 Tualatin)
Ogoli was one of the top risers in the updated rankings and a lot of it has to do with his continued development, both with his game and with his physical stature. Now a solid 6-foot with improved strength, he’s a heady floor leader who has a good feel for the game when it comes to setting up teammates or taking on the scoring load himself. We recently caught up with Ogoli and will be posting an update soon.
#11 – Trejon Williams Trejon Williams 5'11" | PG Jefferson | 2022 OR (2022 Jefferson)
Once ranked in the top ten, the only reason Williams has moved down is because it’s becoming pretty clear his path to college will be on the gridiron as one of the top football players in the entire state. The 5-foot-11 junior is still a darned good hoops player as a hard-nosed, bulldog point guard who can outmuscle guys to the hoop and nail the pull-up jumper. Williams will be a key cog for Jefferson this season.
#16 – Julian Mora Julian Mora 6'0" | PG Summit | 2022 State OR (2022 Summit)
We were intrigued by Mora during the season but really got a better feel for his game this summer and fall with the Oregon Prospects. The 5-foot-11 junior is one of the state’s best in really getting the ball up the floor and either scoring himself or getting it to an open teammate out on the perimeter. Mora will be taking on a much bigger role this upcoming year for Summit with both his scoring and playmaking.
