Ryan led the Maroons in total points and total rebounds for the 2019-2020 season, and will be more of a focal point for opposing defenses this season. The 6’9″ forward is comfortable anywhere on the court. He shot 44% from deep as a junior. He can pop out to the perimeter, and his man either has to vacate the paint and open up driving lanes, or stay put and let Ryan rain in 3-pointers. He’s a good passer too on the roll, where he can identify the double and make the pass accordingly.
Jaylon Moses Jaylon Moses 6'8" | PF Xavier | 2021 State IA – Xavier
Jaylon is a long and athletic forward who has plenty of room to grow. His drives from the perimeter are as good as you’ll see from a player his size. At this point in his development, he’s more of a power forward. He can compete in the lane but will need to improve his footwork if he is to have real success there. On the perimeter, he only hit 26% of his threes last season, but his shot mechanics and free-throw percentage suggest that number will improve. As his shooting improves, I see him at the three, and playing the four in smaller lineups.
Connor Drew Connor Drew 6'6" | PF Ballard | 2021 State IA – Ballard
Last week, Connor signed on the dotted line to join the Winona State basketball program next year. He will take a smooth looking jumpshot and excellent rebounding ability to Minnesota. Ballard will rely on Connor’s shotmaking ability from all levels of the court if they are to compete for a championship this season.
Joe Knutson Joe Knutson 6'8" | PF Cedar Falls | 2021 State IA – Cedar Falls
Joe won’t do much work out on the perimeter himself, but he is excellent at firing accurate passes from the post for open shots. There are times when he sets devastating screens, and in the short roll he could be dangerous as a scoring and passing threat. If he didn’t improve any skills, and just brought consistency and focus on each and every play, he would improve his game immensely.
Justin Recker Justin Recker 6'6" | PF Monticello | 2021 State IA – Monticello
Shooting 63 percent from the field and 54 percent from three (28 total attempts), Justin turned in one of the more efficient offensive seasons of 2019-2020. He uses solid footwork and his excellent touch to finish at the rim. He has a good enough handle, and plus passing vision where I think he could run some offense in his future. He is athletic, runs the floor with purpose, and has great feel for the game.
