Look for these kids to take major leaps this next year as they develop as players and athletes. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these young men as they continue to grow and begin their senior campaigns.
Marcus Willis 2021 La Vega High School (Waco)
Marcus is a lanky guard with great natural point guard instincts. He creates well for others, showing off creative dump off passes to his bigs and intelligent cross court passes to give his teammates open looks. He is a confident shooter and is comfortable in the midrange, as well as behind the arc. His long arms allow him to finish easily in traffic and around the rim. I would like to see him work on his defensive game, his ability to fill it up will get him far, but the defense can take him to the next level.
Elijah Bernstein 2021 5’11 Houston Christian High School
Elijah plays with great tenacity and intensity; he always seems to be going at a different gear than his opponents. He knows how to play the game with pace and is great at changing his speed to affect his on ball defender. He is a guard with good size and long arms which allows him to be an effective player in the passing lanes and finish around the rim. I would like to see him work on his shot off the dribble this upcoming season and focus on being a better distributor.
Adam Herrera 2021 Eastlake High School (El Paso)
Adam is the real deal; he is a true four level scorer with great size and length. He has great ball skills and supreme basketball IQ allowing him to finish over bigger and stronger defenders with crafty finishes. He is great with the ball in his hands, making the right reads in the half and full court. I was truly impressed by the way he stepped up at this event, making his name well known and setting the tone every time he stepped on the court. He always seemed to have his play level step up when his team needed it the most. I would like to see more work getting stronger and improving as a defender and continue developing as an offensive weapon- keep adding more and more moves to his bag.
Joby Love 6’1 2022 (Cyclones) Mansfield Timberview High School
Joby is an explosive guard who seems to float in the air. His leaping ability alone is worth a next level offer. He is a relentless finisher at the rim and welcomes contact. He plays the game with his hair on fire, seemingly at 100 miles per hour. His game really reminds me of Russel Westbrook in his relentless nature on both sides of the floor and scrappy and ferocious nature to his game.
