Look for these kids to take major leaps this next year as they develop as players and athletes. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these young men as they continue to grow and begin their senior campaigns.
Tanishq Madhusudan 2021 Forward
Tanishq is a skilled forward who finishes with ease around the rim. While he is not the most explosive player, his confidence and skill in the post allows him to finish over bigger and stronger competition. He is a very smart player as a screener, he knows how to open up and be a big passing option in the pick and roll. He has an array of post moves such as drop steps and a soft touch underneath the basket on his floaters. I would like to see him work on his defensive ability and improve as a second defender. Work on cutting off angles and be able to turn away shots when smaller guards come into the paint.
David Rague 2021 Forward Lago Vista High School
Davis is a large paint presence who destroy defenders underneath the bucket. He is an incredibly strong force who does not allow his opponents outwork him in the post and underneath the basket when fighting for positioning on the glass. I would like to see him work on staying engaged on both ends of the floor and his ball handling ability, especially in the post.
Tyler Stephenson 2021 6’8 Power Forward Lockhart High School
Tyler is an intelligent big who punishes his opponents down low. He is confident and fluid when he has the basketball underneath the rim and in the post. He had a dominant showing against some of the best bigs in the state and really showcased his talents. Seemingly a man amongst boys, Stephenson was a force on the glass, boxing out opponents not allowing them to fight over him for positioning and bullying them with simple bunny hooks and other soft turnaround post moves. I would like to see continued development with driving with the basketball, especially when he spins out of the high post. He has all the tools to finish over even the best defenders, and will become deadly if he is skilled enough to beat you off the dribble too.
Hunter Darling 2021 Forward
Hunter is a large forward who can stretch the floor and even attack the rim. His relentlessness to attack his man put his defender in foul trouble and resulted in multiple trips to the free throw line. He is a stout and smart defender who rarely bites on pump fakes and loves to outwork his opponent underneath the basket. His ability to keep his man uncomfortable really set him apart against his peers. He picked off multiple passes in the passing lane and even had the ability to take it coast to coast himself and finish at the rim.
