Four of their first seven losses came in their first five games. After that, they went 19-3. It’s safe to say that MacArthur settled into things and capitalized on what could have been a horrendous season.
This year Danquez Dawsey Danquez Dawsey 6'0" | CG Lawton Macarthur | 2021 State OK , the 28th ranked point guard in Oklahoma’s senior class, will lead Mac to be one of the top teams in 5A. More so than last season. Two other senior guards, Earl Moseby Earl Moseby 5'11" | SG Lawton MacArthur | 2021 State OK and Brandon Cowan will lead help Dowsey lead this team along the way.
Mac has a junior guard, Arzhonte Dallas Arzhonte Dallas 5'11" | PG Lawton MacArthur | 2022 State OK , and a sophomore forward, Tristen Klien, who showed signs of being the future of this basketball team for the next few seasons last year during the Area tournament.
Dowsey is a quick guard that can handle the ball very well. His ability to create separation against defenders is unmatched, and his ability to get into the lane makes him a threat getting to the rim.
Moseby is a straight-up shooter, but what people fail to recognize is his ability to create off the dribble and drain difficult shots from beyond the arc.
Dallas is another guard that’s a hybrid between Dowsey and Moseby. He’s a high-IQ point guard who is quick, can handle the ball well, and can shoot, so Mac is stacked at the guard position. The youngest of the bunch potentially has the most talent, though. Klien, a sophomore forward, showed signs of being a Division 1 caliber player last year as a freshman and blossomed in the playoffs. If he and Dallas can elevate their games and play the way they played to end last season, this team will go far in 5A’s playoffs.
Carl Albert is a great team, but Lawton Mac will surely give them a run for their money this season.
