Continue ReadingOakland CA, Soldier Town a good group of top prospects showed up to showcase their talents at one of the few events in NorCal that Prep Hoops has been able to attend without leaving the state. The Bay Area, Sacramento, and Central Valley was well represented with a number of next level players. Here’s my take on some prospects who I was able to see play during this two day event.
Jason Cibull 5’11 Point Guard, Alameda 2021
Cibull was instrumental in Arsenal’s exciting win over EBO 2.0 on Saturday. He was a standout performer on day one of this event. A high IQ point guard, he makes good reads, has superb handles, and was able to control the pace of the game at times. He showed quality leadership in directing teammates during crucial times of the game. His execution of the pick n roll was excellent, his vision and passing was on point whether feeding the post or finding open teammates on the penetration kick. He displays a series of moves to create his own shot, floaters, step-back mid-range jumpers, and he hit a few deep 3’s when needed. I’ll keep an eye on him.
Ameere Britton Ameere Britton 6'0" | CG Elk Grove | 2022 State CA-N 6’1 Combo Guard, Elk Grove. 2022
Britton is one of Sac’s top players in this 2022 class. He’s a scoring threat whenever he has the ball in his hands. He’s a confident athlete with good handles, passing skills and upper body strength. He’s not shy about putting up a shot using the mid range jumper or his quick release from behind the arc. He executes the pick n roll.
Caden Flowers Caden Flowers 6'0" | PG Capital Christian | 2021 State CA-N 6’0 Point Guard, Capital Christian. 2021
Flowers, one of NorCal’s top floor generals shows his leadership qualities every time he steps on the court. The pass first pg has improved his shot making, mid-range, and from the arc. He’s an annoying defender who finds ways to disrupt the rhythm of whoever he’s guarding, usually the other teams top scoring guard. Flowers would be a good fit for many next level programs.
Tyler Isaak 6’3 Guard, San Ramon. 2021
It was my first look at Isaak, I thought he played well over the 2 day event. He’s a high IQ player with good fundamentals. He has good foot work, and moves well without the ball. He did a good job coming off screens for shots, and spotting up in the corner for 3’s. His size and handles allowed him to get into the paint for quality finishes over taller players. Plays under control, and makes solid passes.
Rahsaan Young-Jones Rahsaan Young-Jones 6'5" | SF Oakland Tech | 2021 State CA-N -Jones, 6’6 Wing/Forward, Oakland Tech 2021
Young-Jones showed some toughness, and versatility over this two day event. The long slender prospect was actively working the boards on both ends, and was willing to mix it up with the bulky bigs on the block, he didn’t back down, and had multiple rejections because of his arm length. He can guard multiple positions. The versatile w/f showed decent handles on the rebound and push when he had the opportunity. Young-Jones has good perimeter skills, with his range, and ability to get to the paint on the drive for pull up jumpers in the key, or finish at the rim on occasion.
