Miles averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, three assists, 2.4 steals, and a block a game for the Spartans last year doing his part to help his team improve by 17 games!
“We have some unfinished business we would like to complete,” Miles said. “I feel we will be contenders again for conference and section champs. I would love Richfield to get to state again and actually experience it this time. My goal since freshman year was to help get Richfield on the map and regarded as a potential threat.”
Richfield earning a strip to state in 2020 was a celebratory moment but also comes with a gut punch. The Spartans earned their spot at state last March with a great year and a nice section run. It was a great team basketball but unfortunately Ryan, Lamar Grayson Lamar Grayson 6'0" | PG Richfield | 2021 State MN , Isaiah Casey-Hammond, and others didn’t get the chance to play at state because the season was cancelled. That doesn’t change their goals going forward that as Richfield is a top five team entering this winter.
“Our team is looking great,” Miles said. “We’re healthy, we have five returning starters with many younger guys who can fill those off the bench roles. This is the deepest depth of talent we’ve had since I started on varsity as a freshman.”
Miles is being recruited for the college level. We asked Ryan what makes him a quality prospect.
“First off I love the game! I love being on that court and getting the job done. I just have that competitive edge that pushes me.”
And what kind of player is he? “(A) crafty ball handler, deadly first step, court vision, 15 foot pull-up.”
Several schools are looking at Miles at the moment.
“I’ve been contacted by a couple D2 but mostly D3 schools for basketball and football. I’ve been sending some film and emails to a few colleges I’m interested in but really just taking it week by week.”
