CJ Luster | Leadership Prep | 2022
The names of note from a loaded Texas loaded 2022 class include CJ Luster, a 6-3 scoring playmaker. The quick, lanky ball handler shed Spring Creek’s giant lineups on drives to the rim. When they sagged off Luster’s dribble pull up three made them adjust their plans on the next possession.
Geronimo Rubio De la Rosa | Spring Creek | 2021
Watching this senior work his way to the paint is strategic. He understands how to operate the pick and roll making plays as a passer and finisher. Speaking of finishing, De la Rosa knows how to create and adjust to contact with his listed 6-2 190 pound frame shielding the ball from defenders.
Ethan Blackmon | Leadership Prep | 2022
In a game with 5 players over 6-8 on the court, it was the 6-6 Blackmon who posted the best stat line of the game. A 19 point, 10 rebound double-double shows how strength and wide shoulders help him rebound amongst the trees. His footwork on the block gets him to find good looks at the basket.
Shakiru Odunewu | Universal Academy | 2021
Odunewu may be the most under radar big we have in Texas. 6-10, physical, and strong doesn’t begin to describe this senior in the post. His 8 points and 4 rebounds are more of an indication of the glut of talent around him than the production he’d have in a larger role.
Robert Jennings Robert Jennings 6'8" | PF TACA Storm | 2022 State TX | TACA Storm | 2021
A physical 6-7 forward with perimeter skills set and the body to defend multiple positions. Jennings is a really good athlete crushing big dunks throughout the game, including a tomahawk on the break and a two hander in traffic off a spin move.
Cameron Corhen Cameron Corhen 6'9" | C Sunrise Christian | 2022 #106 Nation KS | John Paul II | 2022
A few days after receiving a PAC-12 offer, Corhen seems to have taken a step athletically. The 6-9 big made big rejections at the rim and grabbed rebounds at their apex. He spaced the floor and protected the rim with Next Page Force this summer, but there’s an apparent difference in his athleticism now.
Cade Douglas | Lancaster | 2023
This sophomore is spending his debut varsity season backing up one of the best lead guards in the country. His foot speed helps him to pressure the perimeter, playing a big part in Lancaster’s defense. He buried two threes during the first half on his way to a double digit win. Lancaster has a tradition of good guards at the helm, and Douglas could be next.
