Notes
- Here are ten of the 15 teams that I believe could win the state title this year. Yes I think there are ten top 15 teams which is why Friday I will provide a top 25 for Class AAAA.
- Why Lakeville South as number one? They have the highest score of four categories you have to consider when talking preseason rankings: 1) returning experienced players, 2) how good they were last season, 3) the overall talent level, and 4) coaching.
- Would I bet that South wins it all? I would actually bet on Wayzata because I think they are the most talented team in Class AAAA basketball. But it’s hard to put a team at #1 when they were 11-17 last season. They have to figure out how to win consistently first.
- Hopkins? Oh for sure. Don’t buy into this “Hopkins will be down” stuff at all. Not from people outside of Hopkins, or from people at Hopkins. They have a coaching legend in Ken Novak Jr, they have two scholarship level, top 20 seniors in Jaelen Treml Jaelen Treml 6'4" | SF Hopkins | 2021 State MN and Xavier White Xavier White 6'6" | SF Hopkins | 2021 State MN , they have a high major prospect big in Elvis Nnaji Elvis Nnaji 6'8" | C Hopkins | 2022 State #215 Nation MN , a top sophomore in Max Wilson, and solid returning role players.
- The winning programs of Chaska and Maple Grove will continue their regular winning ways.
- East Ridge and Eastview will rank as two of the most talented teams, they just have a lot of new guys to plug in first.
- Duluth East would of been top five had they not lost their point guard Will Van Scoy Will Van Scoy 6'1" | PG Duluth East | 2022 State MN .
