Continue reading for a breakdown of Howell’s skills and abilities ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Defense: Bracken is a solid defender for the Eagles. He is a hard-nosed defender that is willing to pressure whoever he is tasked with guarding. He is a natural leader that brings a lot of energy on the defensive end to help his team force steals and limit the offenses opportunities to score. Against guards, Howell is laterally quick and routinely keeps his man in front and limits them from attacking the rim. He has crafty hands that poke the ball away from weak defenders. Against bigs, Howell does an excellent job of fighting to front and he always attempts to force posts away from the block. Bracken plays hard no matter who he has to guard. As a rebounder, Howell crashes the glass on every shot that is attempted and grabs a lot of rebounds, especially for a guard.
Offense: Howell is a great offensive player for Marsh Valley. From outside, Howell is a constant threat and can shoot the ball with the best of them. He has a quick release and is always searching for a way to get his shot off over unsuspecting defenders. If he is not shooting from the perimeter, Bracken likes to drive to the rim where he can finish with both hands and he does an excellent job of drawing contact in order to get to the free throw line. He can also shoot off of the dribble for a mid-range jumper and he loves to catch the defender off balance with a crossover. He is a willing passer that likes to create opportunities for his teammates to score and he makes great passes.
Overall: Altogether, Bracken is a really solid basketball player. Defensively, he plays hard and uses physicality to guard opposing players of any size. On the other side of the ball, Howell is a great shooter that can score at all levels. He would make a great 2-guard at the next level.
