Last season, Abram played a big role for Skyview where he contributed a lot of points, minutes, and leadership for the team. During the upcoming season, Abram will look to lead the Hawks to a successful run in districts with the hopes of making an appearance at the state tournament. Continue reading for a breakdown of Abram’s skills and abilities on both sides of the ball ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Defense: Zweigle is a solid defender for the Hawks. He has long arms and he is able to guard anyone on a given roster. Against guards, Abram is long and he can use an outstretched arm to deter shooters by contesting the shot and keeping a gap. He makes great defensive reads and is always in the right position on defense. Laterally, he moves really well and he rarely gets beat to the basket. Against post players, Zweigle does a great job of staying strong and battling in the post. He jumps well and can block the shot of more lethargic big men or he can force them into difficult shots near the block. As a rebounder, Zweigle does a great job of crashing the glass on both ends of the floor to secure rebounds for his team.
Offense: Abram is a great offensive player for Skyview. At 6’3″ he is a tough matchup for opposing guards and he does a great job of using this to his advantage. Zweigle can rise-up and shoot the long ball over shorter defenders or he can muscle his way to a mid-range jumper or get all the way to the rim. He finishes well at the rim with either hand and likes to draw contact in order to get to the free throw line for easy points. He has a great looking jump shot and he shoots the ball with confidence. As a passer, Zweigle does a great job of looking for his teammates and setting them up with opportunities to score. He is a great ball handler and he plays with the skills of a point guard, and the size of a shooting guard.
Overall: Altogether, Abram is a solid player for the Skyview Hawks. On defense, he can guard anyone and is an athletic player that uses that ability to his advantage. On offense, Abram can score at all levels and has a great feel for the game. Zweigle would make a great 2 or 3 at the next level.
