Below we will take a closer look at players based on the west coast who took part in the event and breakdown their performances.
Nolan Hickman Nolan Hickman 6'2" | PG Eastside Catholic | 2021 #29 Nation UT , Wasatch Academy (UT) – Hickman continues to develop into the “total package” point guard as a guy who not only sees the game a few steps ahead of the defense and makes high IQ decisions and passes, but has also improved his offensive package by adding a consistent three-point shot off the catch and off the bounce. The Kentucky-signee is a dynamic playmaker in the open floor who defends his position at a high level.
Zaon Collins Zaon Collins 6'0" | PG Bishop Gorman | 2021 #37 Nation NV , Bishop Gorman (NV) – Collins remains one of the top true point guards on the west coast due to his high level court vision, passing IQ and instincts on the defensive end of the floor. The 6-foot UNLV-bound senior has run the show for a high level high school team and many high level club programs throughout his youth basketball career and those traits shined through in this event as his teammates looked to enjoy playing with him because they knew Collins would put them in a position to succeed.
Shane Nowell Shane Nowell 6'6" | SG Eastside Catholic | 2021 State #85 Nation WA , Eastside Catholic (WA) – One of Washington state’s top-ranked prospects brought a solid all-around feel and impact to the floor for the west squad. The 6-foot-4 wing brings a similar mentality to the floor as his future Wildcats’ teammate Kenneth Simpson, Jr. in that they are both aggressive and fearless attackers of the basket in the half-court and transition settings. Nowell has a smooth lefty pull-up jumper and has improved the consistency on his catch-and-shoot three-point shot since the last time we saw him.
Paolo Banchero Paolo Banchero 6'10" | PF O'Dea | 2021 State #3 Nation WA , O’Dea (WA) – What is there not to say about Banchero’s game? The 6-foot-10 Duke-bound forward makes an impact in every stat category due to his versatility, basketball IQ and polished all-around skill-set. Banchero has inside-out scoring ability, makes great passing reads out of the low and high post, and finishes well through contact in the painted area.
