Continue ReadingThe AAU season was presented with many roadblocks but several programs found ways to create a platform for their team. There were a number of prospects who used the opportunity to boost their stock and enhance their overall game. I was able to travel to various locations throughout the region and identify prospects who have the potential to make some noise this season.
Kalu Anya Kalu Anya 6'7" | SF IMG | 2022 FL | 6’7″ | W | 2022 | Governors Academy – He made strides throughout the summer and by August Kalu found his groove. He had an impressive showing at the Team Spartans Tournament and Top Dog Camp. I expect him to carry this momentum into the season.
Troy McKoy Troy McKoy 6'5" | SG NLG | 6’5″ | W | 2023 | Windsor HS – Troy started building momentum last season and didn’t let the stoppage in play pause his development. He’s an aggressive downhill attacking wing with a high motor. Troy is proving to be an effective three-level scorer which immediately becomes a nightmare for the opposition.
Logan Carey Logan Carey 6'2" | CG St. Paul’s | 2023 State NLG | 6’2″ | PG | 2022 | Fairfield Prep – Logan continued to raise his stock throughout the summer. He has great physical tools along with everything a coach searches for in a lead guard, size, court vision, and playmaking instincts.
Isaiah Riley Isaiah Riley 6'4" | CG Cheshire Academy (CT) | 2023 State NLG | 6’4″ | CG | 2023 | Cheshire Academy – He’s an extension of the coach on the floor. He uses his high IQ to contemplate the best scenario to help the team be successful. The high school quarterback brings the same decision making and toughness to the hardwood.
Mekhi Dedrick Mekhi Dedrick 5'10" | PG Boston English | 2022 State NLG | 5’10″ | PG | 2022 | Boston English HS – Mekhi had an impressive output at the BALLAS TV exposure in Boston. He’s a wiry athletic prospect with playmaking ability. Mekhi is a quick-twitch point guard and able to get in the lane with ease.
Dereyk Grant Dereyk Grant 5'11" | PG Wilbur Cross | 2021 State NLG | 5’11″ | PG | 2021 | Wilbur Cross HS – Dereyk is arguably one of the best players you probably next heard of in Connecticut. Last season he added more accolades to his resume which included Second Team-All State honors. He’s a strong gritty two-way player with a very good scoring touch.
