Without a season starting for another month, it allows some more time to research and find out about kids who aren’t getting much pub and get their names out there a little. Here are some Freshmen who could have huge seasons.

Zander Carter Zander Carter 6'3" | SG Ashland Blazer | 2024 State KY , Ashland Blazer – Carter was a double figure scorer last season for Greenup County but transferred to Ashland this season and will likely serve in a backup role for the top team in Eastern Kentucky. Likely to be a 6th or 7th man, Zander’s number of shots could decrease this season but he’s likely to get more clean looks as part of a talented roster for the Tomcats.

Max Gainey Max Gainey 5'11" | PG Male | 2024 State KY , Male – Gainey is unlikely to see the court a whole lot as a freshman thanks to the guard depth of the Bulldogs but Coach Haworth assures me that Max is a stud at the point guard spot and a future star. With a loaded 2023 class ahead of him, Gainey may not play a ton until next season but his potential appears to be high.

Brady Hussey Brady Hussey 5'11" | CG Covington Catholic | 2024 State KY , Covington Catholic – Another player who likely has to wait his turn at a veteran program, Hussey could see some time on the varsity floor as a freshman. Cov Cath rarely plays freshmen but Blake was a standout at the Camp One event last month and could be the next great scoring guard for the Colonels.

Hudson Blank Hudson Blank 6'2" | SF Dixie Heights | 2024 State KY , Dixie Heights – A big strong wing who was the leading scorer and rebounder on JV as an 8th grader for Dixie, Blank will see a lot of varsity time as a freshman and could be a starter. It’s been a few years since they’ve been a legit contender in the 9th region but if Hudson can develop, these Colonels could be a year away from being a threat to win the region.

Damone King Damone King 5'11" | CG DuPont Manual | 2024 State KY , DuPont Manual – A lot of folks around Louisville will tell you that King is the best 2024 in the city. He should be able to play a ton for the Crimson this season and get to play through any freshman inefficiencies that could come. King is a shifty athlete who can be a really good player in the near future for Manual.
