Doram competed with the Grassroots Sizzle this past summer plus had some encouraging fall basketball performances that have led to a pick-up in recruitment. Doram is speaking with a number of Midwestern schools as he explained to Prep Hoops:
“The schools I’m hearing from the most right now would be William Penn, Briar Cliff, Bethany Lutheran, North Central, and NDSCS,” Kaden explained. “My next step in the recruiting process is just giving every school a chance and building a relationship with the staff. Also I would like to know what my role would be for the team.”
Since moving from Kentucky to St. Paul, Minnesota, Doram has expanded his game and the coaching staff at St. Paul Central as well as the players have helped him become a more versatile talent.
“When I first moved here from Kentucky my whole basketball career I had basically played the center position but the Coaches over these past few years they’ve had with me has helped transform my game to the wing spot,” the 6-foot-3/6-foot-4 Doram said.
“Now I’m comfortable with any aspect of the game. It also helps when old Central players like Ronnell 9Porter) try to give you pieces and feedback on how to play the game. It’s been a lot of tough Love but the Central staff and family has had a big impact at where I’m at.”
Kaden is what many would call, a workout warrior. He’s dedicated time from his daily schedule to work on his skill, and work on his frame in preparation for his senior year (and the college level).
“To prepare my mind, skill, and body I have been working out with my trainer, Coach Q. Usually I workout every Monday-Thursday. I do a skill work and reads then a strength/conditioning workout right after. I’ve seen major strides in not only my game but my body.”
At some point high school basketball practice will start and when it does Central will be our favorite to win the St. Paul City Conference. Doram has fairly big goals and expectations coming into this season.
“I would expect us to win Conference and if we’re allowed to play out of conference teams then win a couple tough games there (as well),” Kaden explained.
“A personal goal I’ve set for myself is to be Conference player of the year. As for the team, I feel like our team is going to be a top sleeper. I feel like we’re going to shock a lot of people with how good our team is.
“This year we have everybody coming back except one starter and many of my teammate have elevated their game over the summer. We’re definitely a team to keep an eye on.”
