The Mauldin HS Mavericks used a three headed monster today in a opening round win vs Boiling Springs HS. Nic Williams Nic Williams 6'4" | SG Mauldin | 2021 State SC , James Cooper James Cooper 6'9" | PF Mauldin | 2021 State SC and Drake Downs Drake Downs 6'8" | PF Mauldin | 2022 State SC led the charge. Williams a senior is a absolute pogo stick at times on the floor with his leaping ability. Williams s in the transition game for the Mavericks and led his way to 23 points on opening night.

Who are these Byrnes Rebels ? The Rebels came out on fire and never looked back vs Irmo HS on the opening night. Jesse Singh, Malik White, Taviyon Bruton Taviyon Bruton 6'4" | SF Byrnes | 2021 State SC and Will Fowler Will Fowler 6'1" | PG Byrnes | 2024 State SC all stood out for the Rebels. I honestly can say I was a little setback on not knowing much about a few of these players.
Singh is a deceptive athlete who was able to work around the paint and get things done. Bruton was great on the glass and just brought constant energy to the floor all night long. Bruton had over 12 rebounds then I stopped counting. Bruton stayed within a few feet of the basket but he seemed to know where he was most effective to help his team.
Fowler is just a freshman playing for his father here. Fowler showed great composure on the floor and feel for the game. Fowler has a fearless mindset and was able to finish at the basket with his left-hand. The Blue Devils play in Class 5A with the likes of Dorman HS, Blythewood HS, Ridge View HS and Mauldin HS this season. This team is coming off a good season last year and will surprise some people this season for sure.
