“I’ve just been really pushing myself in areas where I was weakest at like my handle, my defense I’ve presence, and moving without the ball have been things I’ve really tried to get better at,” Chisley said about his off-season work.
Andrew was often times a top 3-4 scorer and rebounder for Minnesota Select especially in the games we looked in on both live and when watching on video. Chisley’s confidence and skill level both took a big step forward.
“I just feel like all my hard work is starting to show and what I feel has led to that is my mental game has gotten a lot stronger,” Andrew said. “I just want to go all out for my last year so I have nothing to lose things are just starting to pay off but I have more in store for the near future.”
The Royals lost four starters from a season ago but return Xavier White Xavier White 6'6" | SF Hopkins | 2021 State MN , added Max Wilson as a transfer, and reserves Chisley, Tristan Lee Tristan Lee 6'2" | PG Hopkins | 2021 State MN , and Jaelen Treml Jaelen Treml 6'4" | SF Hopkins | 2021 State MN are already to be main talents for Hopkins. Expectations are once again high.
“My goal for this winter in to win a state championship,” Andrew said. “A lot of people think we aren’t gonna be as good as we have been in the past but we have a few tricks up our sleeves so don’t count us out. We have a lot of great pieces and our coach will guide us on the way to success. As for myself I just want to do the best I possibly can. I just want to show all the hard work I’ve been putting in into play.
“Our team is looking really nice. We’ve got a few transfers that can help us win big games and as a team we are just all together as one. I feel nobody is selfish on the team and everybody wants to win before personal achievements and things of that nature.”
A few colleges are also talking to Chisley about the future as well.
“A lot of things are heating up. I have been hearing a lot from schools at all levels but the ones who talk to me the most are Pacific State University and McNeese State University. Some D2’s as well like Minot State and more. My next step in my recruitment is just to keep playing and getting noticed and making great connections with the coaches that are interested in me.”
