As for the class of 2021, it’s their last chance to represent their school, area, county, and state. We have been covering these guys for several years now and the good thing about this class is that not only have the usual suspects, for the most part, panned out, but don’t sleep it’s a great group of quality guards (outside the top 25 in the rankings) that deserve more attention.
Jack Dorolek Jack Dorolek 6'1" | CG Thompson | 2021 State AL , 6’1 CG, Thompson: Can flat out shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor. He is one of those shooters that you love because they shoot their way into a rhythm. He has never seen a shot he doesn’t like whether off the dribble with parking lot range or using an over-aggressive closeout to his advantage and finishing at the rim with a nice layup package. Keep eyes on this guard as he should have big numbers this season. Current Rank: 57
DJ Fairley DJ Fairley 6'1" | CG Hoover | 2021 State AL , 6’1 CG, Hoover: I hate using this term because it has become a cliche, but this kid is a “Bucket”. He scores the ball in so many ways. He can shoot it off the dribble, he can knock down catch and shoot threes, or he can put his head down and get to the cup. A lot of people always ask “What position will he play?” and I answer “On the court!” Expect for him to have a solid senior year which should see his recruitment continue to rise. Current Rank: 26
Bryson Clague Bryson Clague 6'3" | SG Auburn | 2021 State AL , 6’3 SG, Auburn: A standout wide receiver on a very good Auburn High football team this hard work has continued to find time to be in the gym working on his craft. From getting shots up on “The Gun” alone to playing in showcase events when time permits to stay sharp, it shouldn’t take much time for him to get his basketball legs up under him once he hits the hardwood full time. And once he does hit it full time look for this prototypical SG to score the basketball in many different ways. He also has the potential to be one of the better two guards in the entire state. Current Rank: 54
Jacob Comer Jacob Comer 5'10" | PG Prattville Christian | 2021 State AL , 5’10 PG, Prattville Christian: I have been very impressed with his progression over the several times I saw him this spring and summer. He continues to be a blur with the ball in his hand and showed very good athleticism for his size. His ability to control pace is very good and willingness as a passer to teammates in positions where they can be successful is the main reason he makes this list. It would be smart of most to make a stop on I-65 north of the Gump in P-Ville to check him out. Current Rank: 47
Quandre Burroughs Quandre Burroughs 5'9" | PG Clarke Co. | 2021 State AL , 5’10 PG, Clarke County: Quick, explosive, compact, well put together, low center gravity….oh my fault I got carried away and I could keep going. His fast-twitch motion and quick first step allow him the ability to get to his spots and that incredible explosiveness into his jump shot allows him to get long 3’s or midrange pull-ups over bigger defenders. Look for n all-state type of year from this prospect. Current Rank: 39
