This week, we will release scouting reports of the players that impressed us at each position group in Phoenix, continuing today with centers.
For obvious reasons, we have additionally included a scouting report for Oregon-native Nate Bittle and his performance for Prolific Prep during the circuit as well:
Jalen Lewis (2023 Bishop O’Dowd CA)
At 6-foot-9, Lewis served as USBA’s primary “big man” throughout the trip to Phoenix. In a 106-84 victory against Bella Vista Prep, the highly-touted sophomore poured in 21 points on 9-for-10 shooting. Additionally, Lewis posted seven rebounds, five assists, and a block to help push USBA to a statement win. Alongside his notable height, Lewis possesses the ball-handling and outside shot to be a legitimate stretch-five option at the next level. Furthermore, his footwork, presence, and finishing inside are all bright spots. Despite lapsing at times on both ends, Lewis is clearly one of the most polished big men in the country in his class. Multiple times, the five-star prospect attacked the rim with a spark of ferocious athleticism and either finished a spectacular dunk or drew a foul. Because of moments like these, Lewis will soon be one of the best players in the country.
Nate Bittle (2021 Prolific Prep CA)
For his new team, Bittle was unsurprisingly one of the main contributors on a nightly basis. Providing a healthy mixture of buckets, rebounds, assists, and blocks, the 6-foot-11 senior was the most valuable player for Prolific Prep on multiple occasions, including a 65-63 win against PHHoenix Prep. That night, Bittle scored 20 points to go alongside 12 rebounds, four blocks, and an assist. For Oregon high school basketball fans, it was a familiar night for Bittle. For those at The Grind Session, it was a breakout game for one of the nation’s top talents. Throughout his trip to Phoenix, the Central Point native was a steady presence inside and out, using his ridiculously long arms to score from all over the floor on the offensive end. Defensively, Bittle was obviously dominant, collecting blocked shots around the basket at a terrific rate. Projecting as an incredibly versatile big man at the next level, the Oregon commit looked the part in Phoenix.
