Kenny Garth Kenny Garth 6'2" | CG Westosha Central | 2022 State WI (6’2 2022 CG, Westosha Central)- Kenny Garth Kenny Garth 6'2" | CG Westosha Central | 2022 State WI had been playing football this fall, and was finally able to make his debut in fall league basketball. This was my first time seeing him since June, and he looked to have added explosiveness since then. When he was attacking the basket he went up with the intention of bringing the rim down, finishing off two dunks and nearly posterizing a few defenders. Outside of that athleticism, Kenny showed his ability to create off the dribble, shifting his defender to create space to get off a perimeter jumper, or using a hesitation move to blow by and get to the rim. Also an underrated passer, Kenny put a bit of flair on his passes as he set his teammates up for some easy scores.
Trey Jenkins Trey Jenkins 6'5" | SG Bradford | 2021 State WI (6’4 2021 SG, Kenosha Bradford)- In my opinion the MVP of the day was Trey Jenkins Trey Jenkins 6'5" | SG Bradford | 2021 State WI . Not only did he help Bradford win the league championship, but he was unguardable at times as he put up big scoring numbers in a variety of ways. In the past Trey was mostly a three point shooter, but he really impressed with his ability to get into a one-dribble pull-up from mid-range, getting nice elevation that combined with his length to make his shot hard to contest. He knocked those down at a high rate, and also did a nice job beating his man baseline to get to the rim for finishes. Trey is another player who’s looked to have added some explosiveness, as he looked to finish at the rim with aggression, and threw down a couple of dunks on the date.
Will Starks Will Starks 6'4" | SF Kenosha Tremper | 2023 State WI s (6’4 2023 SF, Kenosha Tremper)- I thought Will did a really good job of finishing at a high percentage around the rim. For a young player he has really nice body control that allows him to maintain his balance when fighting through contact, allowing him to finish more consistently than most players. I also liked what I saw out of him being more confident in his ability to create space off the dribble for a perimeter jumper. A lot of his game at this point relies upon getting to the rim or fighting for second chance baskets, so if he’s able to create off the dribble and knock down shots consistently, he’ll be a very dangerous player.
Devin Griffin (5’11 2022 PG, Westosha Central)- I think that Devin Griffin will be instrumental in Westosha Central’s success over the next two seasons. With multiple big name players that can score the ball, Devin isn’t relied upon to be a big numbers guy, but he does so much for his team. In the two games I watched he provided valuable leadership and secure ball handling that you like to see in a point guard. He’s also deceptively athletic, able to beat his man off the dribble and use his vision to find the open man after drawing in a help defender. When needed to score, he has soft touch on his floater, and can hit the open jumper from outside. A deep sleeper in the 2022 class who also excels in the classroom.
Jalen Carlino Jalen Carlino 6'0" | PG Kenosha Bradford | 2022 State WI (5’11 2022 PG, Kenosha Bradford)- The lone player who started most of the season last year for Bradford, Jalen is a very unselfish point guard who takes what the defense is giving him. Carlino showed off his shooting touch as he was knocking down threes at a high rate, but was able to keep the ball moving when the defense tightened up on him. He’s a high IQ player who’s always looking to find the open man, and with multiple scoring weapons around him, he does a good job of feeding the hot hand. He may not make the flashy, highlight plays that some of his teammates do, but he’s a consistent performer who will always give you his full effort.
Alex Sippy (6’2 2023 G, Westosha Central)- Westosha Central has been a hotbed for prospects over the past few years, and Alex Sippy is another player that colleges will be tracking for the next few years. He has solid size at around 6’2, and is a very fluid player who’s able to read gaps in the defense and weave his way through them. Alex can hit the three, has a nice floater game when he gets in the lane, and is fearless taking the ball to the rim and going up against size.
Trey Cardona (5’10 2021 PG, Kenosha Tremper)- Trey ended up winning MVP of the league, as he was constantly putting in strong performances for Tremper. Tremper graduated one of the top duos in the SEC last year, so Trey is stepping into a much larger role as a senior. He’s a lightning quick player, and he used that to find space on the perimeter to get off his shot. Trey has a really quick release on his three pointer, which makes up for his lack of size and allows him to get off his shot over taller players because his release is able to beat the closeout.
