Class 4A – Region 7

Class 4A - Region 7 is another 7 team region here in the Lower State this season. The James Island HS Trojans have some good fire power to make a run this season in the Lower State. The Cougars and Sharks might have something to say about it. Read more about the region right here on your source for basketball coverage in the Palmetto State.  Predictions :  James Island HS - The Trojans will be rely heavily on Cohen GaskinsCohenGaskins6'3" | PGJames Island | 2021StateSC and Bailey WisemanBaileyWiseman6'2" | CGJames Island | 2021StateSC to lead the way.  Colleton County HS -  The Cougars and Head Coach Matt Mullins will be right there to the end this season.  May River HS -  The Sharks will rely on sophomore Gavin BlockerGavinBlocker6'2" | SGMay River | 2023StateSC to lead the way.  Hilton Head Island HS - The Seahawks finished last season at (14-9).  Bluffton HS - The Bobcats finished (11-12) last season.  Beaufort HS - The Eagles had a rough season last year and finished (5-20).  Lucy Beckham HS - The Bengals will have a very young team in its first year open.     Players to Watch in the Region:  Cohen GaskinsCohenGaskins6'3" | PGJames Island | 2021StateSC (2021) - James Island HS (Prep Hoops CO Player of the Year) Gaskins is new to the SCHSL after playing at Pinewood Prep for the past 4 years. Gaskins who has scored 1,581 career points will play for the Trojans this season. Gaskins played this summer on the Grassroots Circuit with Upward Stars Columbia. Gaskins previously played with TMP up until this summer. Gaskins has signed with Converse College (SC) (NCAA D2) for next season.  Bailey WisemanBaileyWiseman6'2" | CGJames Island | 2021StateSC (2021) - James Island HS (Prep Hoops CO Player of the Year) Wiseman and Gaskins will team up in the Trojans backcourt this coming season. Wiseman has been a staple here for the Blue and Orange over the years. Wiseman a savvy guard will join Gaskins next season at Converse College (SC) (NCAA D2) next season. Converse College will start playing men’s basketball next fall.  Julian JordanJulianJordan6'6" | PFJames Island | 2021StateSC (2021) - James Island HS  Jordan 6’6 forward runs the floor well and has the ability to defend out on the perimeter. Jordan can contests shots on the defensive end of the floor.  Antawn Griffin (2021) - Colleton County HS (Walterboro)  Griffin really can defend on the ball. Griffin a combo guard also excels on the football field for the Cougars.  Temaj Butler (2022) - Colleton County HS (Walterboro)  Butler 6’5 is a RAW talent for the Cougars.  Gavin BlockerGavinBlocker6'2" | SGMay River | 2023StateSC (2023) - May River HS  Blocker had a big freshman season playing for the Sharks. Blocker a left-handed guard has the ability to knockdown shots out on the perimeter.  Thomas OppoldThomasOppold6'3" | SGLucy Beckham | 2023StateSC (2023) - Lucy Beckham HS (Mount Pleasant)  Oppold is a SHOOTER for Head Coach Andrew Glover. Oppold attended nearby Wando HS last year. Oppold can knockdown shots on the perimeter and he will suit up for the Bengals this coming year.
