In this series we’ll provide evaluations on the best available prospects in their final season of high school competition.
TJ Wainwright TJ Wainwright 6'3" | SG Westchester | 2021 State CA-S , Westchester – Wainwright is one of the best available shooters in California’s senior class and his ability to shoot with accuracy from distance and from multiple spots of the floor is a valuable trait at the next level. While the 6-foot-3 lefty made his name on his shooting prowess he has improved his ball skills, playmaking and shot creating ability off the bounce.
Luke Turner Luke Turner 6'8" | SG Santa Margarita Catholic | 2021 State CA-S , Santa Margarita – Like Wainwright above, Turner is one of the premier three-point shooters still on the board in California. The 6-foot-7 wing has a smooth stroke and is especially deadly from either short corner or wing spots on the floor. We’re hoping we get the chance to see Turner with his new Santa Margarita team to see how he’s developed as a ball handler and finisher.
Harold Yu Harold Yu 7'3" | C Sierra Canyon | 2021 State CA-S , Sierra Canyon – With the sparse amount of skilled center talent left on the west coast, Yu’s stock could rise even higher than we originally expected. The 7-foot-3 senior has really nice touch around the basket, has improved his rim-running and conditioning and is a consistent free throw shooter, which is an important factor seeing how often he gets fouled at the high school level. Yu is still hasn’t reached the level of rim protecting needed to be a defensive game changer, but there’s potential with his frame.
Corey Cofield II Corey Cofield II 6'5" | SF Birmingham | 2021 State CA-S , West Ranch – The hyper-athletic and high motor wing is one of the more relentless two-way players still available. At 6-feet-5, Cofield has explosive leaping ability to go along with a smoothness and balance when evading defenders and getting to the rim where he can finish through or above contact. Cofield projects as a versatile defender at the next level due to his size and ability to move laterally. One of the more intriguing aspects of his game is his rebounding prowess on both ends of the floor.
