With so many changes and cancellations, I’m truly fortunate that I’ve gotten a chance to see anyone much less the collection of talent that I’ve seen over the last 7 months. In this article, we give thanks to these players for giving us the opportunity to see them play.
Jaden Hardy Jaden Hardy 6'4" | CG Coronado | 2021 State #4 Nation NV 6’5 CG Coronado 2021 (#1PHN 2021) – I got to see Hardy when he played in the Legend’s Training Showcase this summer. In a preview to his recent scoring outburst, he was phenomenal. A bucket that can accurately be called a shooter, Hardy has proven why he is the most dynamic scorers in all of high school basketball.
Jaden Brownell Jaden Brownell 6'8" | SF Alta | 2021 State UT 6’8 SF Alta 2021 (#7PHU 2021) – Jaden Brownell Jaden Brownell 6'8" | SF Alta | 2021 State UT is the first sleeper I identified after being hired by PH. Short story, I saw him get dunked on in a game, and then 3 plays later give it right back. His competitive spirit was buoyed by a 6’8 frame, and a highly versatile skill set. Super happy to see him sign on to play D1 as a year ago at this time he was offerless.
Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT 5’11 PG Cyprus 2023 (#9PHU 2023) – Will see how this plays out, but I’m a Meza fan. People always ask me how I evaluate players, the answer is actually pretty simple. I look for guys who’s production helps their team win. The man averaged nearly 18 per game for a team that went 15-9 in 6A play… as a freshman. He then backed that up with several strong performances this summer including a Pangos Camp Top 60 game selection.
Sebastian Mack Sebastian Mack 6'4" | CG Coronado | 2023 State #58 Nation NV 6’1 CG Durango 2023 (#1PHN 2023) (featured image) – IMO the most underrated west coast player in the c/o 2023. Show me the poor Sebastian Mack Sebastian Mack 6'4" | CG Coronado | 2023 State #58 Nation NV performance, don’t worry, I’ll wait. He scores like we breathe and never enters shootouts with pocket knives. He has one of the best layup packages around and should be considered a is a knockdown shooter when left open.
Cole Anderson 6’3 PG Clovis West 2021 (#2PHNC) – I had no idea who he was when he showed up to participate in a Legends Showcase event this summer. My apologies to Mr Anderson. He has to be in the conversation of top west coast shooters, and if his performance the weekend I saw him was any indication, UC Santa Barbara got an absolute steal.
Khaman Maker Khaman Maker 7'1" | C Trinity | 2024 State #127 Nation NV 7’1 C Desert Valley Prep 2024 (#2PHN 2024) – My thanks should probably go to HC Tony Lane for his diligent effort to recruit in Africa, He hit a home run with this one, Maker has a legitimate chance to wind up being a lottery pick one day. I’m just happy I got to see him as a young player.
