Nowhere is that more evident than at the 3A level, which has a D1 signee as well as a host of other players with scholarship potential. In this article, we look at some of the standouts from the 3A division.
Ethan Speaker Ethan Speaker 6'6" | SF Boulder City | 2021 State NV 6’6 SF Boulder City 2021 (#7PHN 2021) – We have to start first and foremost with Speaker. No longer considered underrated, The 6’6 wing has signed on to play at Arkansas Little Rock next season. The scoring machine led 3A averaging over 25ppg last season.
Lucas Walker Lucas Walker 5'11" | 155 lbs | PG Moapa Valley | 2021 State NV 5’11 PG Moapa Valley 2021 (#46PHN 2021) (featured image) – Walker is a dynamic PG that has the ability to score and set up his teammates. He has received some D2 interest recently and probably will end up playing somewhere if he gets an opportunity to display his talents during a high school season. He was one of the most efficient players in the state putting up 21 ppg to go with 6 assist and 2 steals.
Michael Klekas Michael Klekas 6'3" | SF Elko | 2022 State NV 6’3 SF Elko 2022 (#9PHN 2022) – Klekas may have a chance next year to duplicate Speaker’s accomplishments. The multi-skilled forward is a positionless athlete with a high skill set. Last season he led 3A in rebounding pulling down nearly 11 boards per game as a sophomore.
Cameron Reese Cameron Reese 6'5" | SF Moapa Valley | 2021 State NV 6’4 SF Moapa Valley 2021 (#86PHN 2021) – Reese is a two sports star that is one of the more intriguing prospects in the state. Standing at a little over 6’4 he is a 3 point shooting wing that can defend the 2 and the 3. According to his head coach Kevin Walker, he’s improved his ballhandling and athletic ability during the off-season. Combine this with his 43% 3 point shooting and you have a prospect whose stock is on the rise.
Noa Del Pozo Noa Del Pozo 6'2" | PG SLAM | 2021 State NV 6’2 SG SLAM 2021 (#75PHN 2021) – NDP is a combo guard that can score the basketball. He gets his buckets from multiple levels including knocking down over 40% of his 3’s. Del Pozo really came on at the end of last season, averaging over 24 in a 3 game stretch during the end of the season.
Daiquan Sykes Daiquan Sykes 5'11" | PG Sunrise Mountain | 2021 State NV 5’11 SG Sunrise Mountain 2021 (#74PHN 2021) – Sykes is a jitterbug CG that had a huge impact for Sunrise Mountain last season. While standing just under 6 feet tall, he had no trouble finishing in the lane over larger defenders. Sykes was a threat to go off at any given time evident by his 30 point explosion vs 4A Rancho last season.
Andrew Lehmann Andrew Lehmann 5'11" | SG South Tahoe | 2022 State NV 5’11 PG South Tahoe 2022 (#23PHN 2022) – Lehmann is a 3 sports star, majoring in Basketball, Baseball, and Tennis. On the Hardwood he is a bucket getter, capable of scoring from all 3 levels. He was one of the most consistent scorers in the state last season, putting up double digits in 23 of 25 contests.
