Andrew Morgan Andrew Morgan 6'9" | C Waseca | 2021 State #178 Nation MN (6’9 2021 F/C, Waseca)- The North Dakota State commit put on a show against Totino-Grace, dominating on the glass and scoring the ball in a variety of ways. He moves so well for his size, and ran the floor hard for a handful of transition buckets, but also looked good pushing the ball in transition off the dribble. Andrew showed that he can hit the pick-and-pop three consistently, and was also going to work on the block using his strength and footwork to create high percentage looks.
Demarion Watson Demarion Watson 6'8" | SF Totino-Grace | 2022 State #150 Nation MN (6’7 2022 SF, Totino-Grace)- Demarion continues to prove just how good of a player he is, and does so in a different way every time I see him play. In a win over Waseca he didn’t look for his pull-up jumper quite as much, but still managed to knock down a few shots from the perimeter. What Demarion excelled at in this game was crashing the boards hard, and consistently creating second chance opportunities. He finished at a high percentage around the rim, and used his length to defend in the paint on the other end.
Jack Hernandez Jack Hernandez 6'11" | C Hopkins | 2021 State MN (6’9 2021 C, Hopkins)- I’ve always liked the effort that Jack Hernandez Jack Hernandez 6'11" | C Hopkins | 2021 State MN plays with, and he’s starting to turn that effort into production on both ends of the floor. Defensively he works extremely hard to move his feet, box out, and secure every rebound he can get his hands on. He also does a good job of contesting straight up to avoid fouling, and he chins the ball hard after every rebound to secure possession. Offensively he showed great hands to catch off the roll and he never brings the ball down to where smaller defenders can get it. Jack finished at a high percentage around the rim for about four baskets, and also stepped out near the top of the key for a long jumper.
Blessed Barhayiga Blessed Barhayiga 6'9" | C Osseo | 2022 State MN (6’9 2022 C, Osseo)- In his first appearance at the Breakdown fall league, Blessed showed some nice flashes in the post. He has a strong frame to back his defender down, and then the soft touch to finish at a high rate around the rim. Blessed also impressed by taking his man off the dribble to the rim, showcasing a quick burst for a player his size. Defensively he works hard to contest around the rim, and is able to clear space to rebound.
Al Fleming (6’4 2021 SF, Cretin-Derham Hall)- I think that Al Fleming is one of those players who will benefit a lot playing alongside Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN . With Tre penetrating the lane, Al did a great job of floating into space beyond the arc to get open for threes. Al has a nice high release that combined with his 6’4 frame makes it hard to contest, and he knocks down the three at a consistent rate. Defensively he’s not the quickest, but works hard to move his feet and competes when tasked with defending in the post.
Jerome Williams Jr (5’8 2024 G, Minneapolis South)- After excelling at the JV level for Minnehaha Academy the past two seasons, Jerome is now in high school at Minneapolis South, where he looks ready to take over a key role as a freshman. He showcased great range with the ability to knock down threes well beyond the arc, and was able to create his looks off the dribble or moving without the ball. Jerome also has a quick handle to drive and kick to his teammates. On the defensive end he worked extremely hard at applying ball pressure, picking up his man at the half court line and making it difficult for him to set up the offense.
Maxsamus Wilson Maxsamus Wilson 6'3" | CG Hopkins | 2023 State MN (6’3 2023 PG, Hopkins)- Max is getting settled in with his new team, and came off the bench to provide an efficient scoring performance. In the first half he knocked down a buzzer beating three, before getting extended playing time in the second half. In the second he showed off improved shot selection, able to create space off the dribble with a limited amount of dribbles, and knocking down the three or mid-range at a high rate. If he can continue to score with that type of efficiency during the winter, he could play a key role for Hopkins.
