Jack Robison (6’5 2024 W, Lakeville North)- The highly skilled freshman helped lead his team to a win over BSM in the first game of the day. At around 6’5 he already has the size to compete on the wing, and has a great feel for the game at such a young age. Jack can hurt you with his three point shot, can shoot it from mid-range, and has great footwork inside the paint to score around the rim with touch. He was also a monster on the glass on both ends, securing boards defensively and snagging offensive rebounds leading to putback buckets.
Dan Ijadimbola Dan Ijadimbola 6'3" | SG Benilde St Margaret's | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 G, Benilde-St. Margaret’s)- The top contributor back from last year’s team, Dan looks ready for a breakout junior season. At 6’3 he has a nice blend of length and athleticism, and has shown that he can play either guard spot. He has a nice change of pace that allows him to attack the basket and he’s comfortable going up to finish with either hand. I was also impressed with his ability to hit the three, knocking them down both off the dribble and off the catch.
Jon Haakenson Jon Haakenson 6'2" | SG Maple Grove | 2022 State MN (6’1 2022 PG, Maple Grove)- Jon is another player who looks ready to take a step forward as a junior. He looks to have improved confidence after a strong summer with Howard Pulley’s top team, and that showed on the offensive end. Jon used a variety of moves to create space on the perimeter to hit a few threes, and he also added in a couple of crafty finishes inside. Defensively he had his usual aggressive approach that helped lead to a few steals and transition buckets.
Terence Anthony-Larmouth Terence Anthony-Larmouth 6'6" | SF Maple Grove | 2021 State MN (6’6 2021 SF, Maple Grove)- Terence has that rare blend of length and explosive ability that makes him an intriguing prospect, and today he added in the production that we can come to expect from him this winter. He has excellent straight line speed that he can use to exploit gaps in the defense and get to the rim to finish. Terence also proved that he can catch and shoot from three, meaning defenders can’t just sag off and prevent him from attacking. In transition he’s also a threat as he can beat you up the floor with speed and then finish above the rim.
Chiang Ring (6’7 2024 F, Minneapolis South)- Chiang put together a really strong first half in a big win for Minneapolis South. The lanky forward put up 11 first half points, scoring the ball in a variety of ways. Chiang had two dunks off of baseline cuts, had a corner three, and took his man off the dribble from the wing to score. He didn’t play much in the second half, but still managed to block a few shots. His length and timing is not only used to block shots, but also scare opposing players into passing up on good looks inside.
Xavier White Xavier White 6'6" | SF Hopkins | 2021 State MN (6’7 2021 W, Hopkins)- Xavier White Xavier White 6'6" | SF Hopkins | 2021 State MN continues to raise his stock as a prospect. The 6’7 wing put in a strong performance for Hopkins, scoring the ball in a variety of ways and showcasing his ability to guard smaller players on the perimeter. He shot the ball well from three, which has always been his strength, but really showed off his improvements in putting the ball on the floor and scoring around the rim. Xavier had a few nice finishes, and also added in a transition dunk.
Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN (6’2 2022 PG, Cretin-Derham Hall)- Although he didn’t put up big scoring numbers, Tre impacted the game in so many ways to lead CDH to a win over Hopkins. He was constantly able to draw in help defenders off of penetration, and then he had the vision to kick it out to the open man for a clean look. Defensively was where he stood out the most, as he picked up a clutch steal late in the game, and added in a handful of blocked shots showing no fear contesting around the rim against 6’7+ players.
Kendall Blue Kendall Blue 6'6" | SG East Ridge | 2022 State #242 Nation MN (6’5 2022 G, East Ridge)- Looks like Kendall Blue Kendall Blue 6'6" | SG East Ridge | 2022 State #242 Nation MN has knocked off the rust after not playing much all summer, as he put in some high level performances in the 1.5 games of his I saw. He handled the ball some, and also played off the ball, finding different ways to score. Kendall had a pair of fastbreak dunks, was dangerous creating space from the perimeter and knocking down threes off the dribble, and looked smooth attacking the basket leading to finishes at the rim. Showed why he’s a high major offered player.
