Talented squads like Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco Prep and Ramsey are all members of this conference. The group is filled with big-time players who will make an impact at the next level, especially in the frontcourt. Here are the top forwards to watch in the Big North Conference this season.
Dominick Barlow Dominick Barlow 6'7" | SF Dumont | 2022 NLG , 6’7 SF Dumont 2021
Barlow’s stock has been on the rise since this summer and it should only go up throughout the season. The lanky 6’7 forward is at his best in transition where he can use his combination of length and athleticism to get to the rim. Barlow is a good finisher around the basket and does not mind drawing contact. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his length to altar shots around the rim. Barlow is one of the top wings in the 2021 class and it should be on full display for Dumont this season.
Akil Watson Akil Watson 6'7" | SF Roselle Catholic | 2023 State #105 Nation NJ , 6’7 SF Don Bosco Prep 2023
Watson is one of the top forwards in the 2023 class and is ready for a big 2020-21 season. The 6’7 forward can handle the ball on the perimeter and get to the basket. Watson is more than just a slasher as he has a good release on his jumper and his range extends out to the three-point line. He can block shots around the rim and is an underrated passer. Watson is a skilled forward who should be one of the go-to guys for Don Bosco Prep this year.
DiAri Duncan DiAri Duncan 6'8" | PF Bergen Catholic | 2021 State NJ , 6’8 PF Bergen Catholic 2021
The Crusaders have to replace Notre Dame signee Matt Zona Matt Zona 6'9" | PF Bergen Catholic | 2020 State #200 Nation NJ down low and Duncan looks to be the guy. The New York native has a strong frame which he uses to draw contact around the basket. Duncan is unafraid to mix it up down low and is tough to keep off the glass. He has a nice touch around the basket and sets good screens in the half court. Duncan is a rugged power forward who should do the dirty work for Bergen Catholic this season.
Aidan Kehoe Aidan Kehoe 6'11" | PF Canterbury | 2022 State NLG , 6’10 PF Pascack Hills 2021
Kehoe has had a big summer for the NJ Panthers 17U team, which should correlate to a strong senior season. The 6’10 forward has a good touch around the basket and knows how to create space for himself down low. Kehoe has a nice release on his free throws and is capable of knocking down jumpers in the mid-range. He uses his size and length around the basket to swat shots. Kehoe has the ability to burst onto the scene with Pascack Hills this season with his combination of size, touch and shooting stroke.
Grant Holbrook Grant Holbrook 6'6" | SF Ramsey | 2021 State NJ , 6’5 SF/PF Ramsey 2021
The Rams took home the North 1 Group 2 title last year and they should be in the hunt for another one with Holbrook returning. The Montclair State commit has a strong frame which he uses to finish shots through contact. Holbrook can handle the ball on the perimeter and can knock down jump shots. He is unafraid to take charges on defense and is a solid post defender. Holbrook is a tough forward prospect who should be the go-to guy for Ramsey this season.
