These programs have waited quite a while to start up practice and turn up the volume for the start of the season, one that will be truly one-of-a-kind.
With that being said, Prep Hoops continues its look in this multi-part series at the Lehigh Valley Conference, breaking down some more juniors to watch this season.
Kuwasi Wellington, PF Liberty: Wellington is going to be a mainstay for Liberty this season and he has a very balanced play style, not really favoring one thing over another. At 6-2, he can rebound well and cut to the rim with ease. He’s also able to guard at the perimeter and make his presence felt from the outside, though he seems to prefer to crash the boards and make the opposition uncomfortable. He welcomes contact and goes up strong for shots around the rim. There’s a lot to like this season so watch out for Wellington in this Liberty system.
Ryan Kresge, SG/SF Nazareth: This Nazareth program right now is so loaded, and Kresge has helped to create a dangerous three-point arsenal for this team. He’s excellent moving without the ball, which has allowed him to create space on the perimeter to shoot. He thrives beyond the arc, but he hasn’t limited himself to being just a three-point specialist. Kresge is a disruptor on defense and a playmaker, creating opportunities on the break for his teammates and for himself if he’s open.
Chase Skrapits, SG Nazareth: With such a loaded roster this season, Skrapits has been overlooked compared to his teammates, but this kid can flat out ball on the court. He is a shot creator and he backs down defenders down low when he drives into the lane. He’s a downhill, hard-nosed player, and his confidence shines on the court. Skrapits is a really good complimentary player, but he pushes the tempo of the game and he’s really going to shine this season for Nazareth.
Isaac Harris, G/F Northampton: The 6-3 Harris is a versatile player on the court, really able to shine in any position and situation he’s put into. He finds his way to the basket any way he can, weaving his way through defenders, but he’s a multifaceted player. He can spot up from anywhere on the court, but his agility is not just an asset on offense. He’s a defensive stalwart and really doesn’t make it easy to score on him. Harris will be one to turn heads for Northampton this season.
Nate Ellis, PG/SG William Allen: There really is a lot to like about Ellis, a combo guard who has an excellent shot and can make things happen on both sides of the floor. He’s quick and really makes a difference on the move, with a chase down block or a tough layup down low where he’s moving his way around defenders. Also, Ellis can shoot and shoot well and he’s a confident shooter, which propels him to the forefront of this William Allen team, the player to watch out for on this team this season.
