But there are a number of other quality players at the other schools in the league, many of whom are potential collegiate prospects.
Here’s a look at a number of these players who have largely operated under the radar but are worth a closer look this season.
Leo Sewell Leo Sewell 5'9" | PG Wilson | 2022 State OR (2022 Wilson) – Small (5-foot-9) but shifty point guard led 6A in assists last season at 5.91 apg. Has been relied a lot upon offensively but is a true floor leader and knows how to find the open man out on the perimeter.
Eli Mesulam Eli Mesulam 5'10" | PG Cleveland | 2021 State OR (2021 Cleveland) – Hard-nosed 5-foot-10 point guard led 6A in three-point field goal percentage last year at a sizzling 53.3 percent. Knocks down open shots but can also create off the dribble. Tough man-to-man defender and plays with passion.
Tavon Wilson Tavon Wilson 6'1" | CG Madison/McDaniel | 2021 State OR (2021 Madison) – Gritty 6-foot-1 combo guard that plays with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Most effective creating off the dribble but can get hot from three-point range. Rebounds well for his size and really gets after it on the defensive end.
Henry Grassman (2021 Franklin) – Emerging big man at 6-foot-9. Saw quality playing time last season and former Franklin head coach Scott Aker compares him favorably to recent grad Tucker Pellicci Tucker Pellicci 6'11" | C Franklin | 2020 State OR . Has big hands and big feet and runs the floor fairly well.
Henri Perrin Henri Perrin 6'3" | SG Wells | 2022 State OR (2022 Lincoln) – Tough 6-foot-3 swingman who really competes. Does a little bit of everything on the court at both ends and could really emerge as an offensive threat under new Lincoln head coach Joel Lincoln.
DJ Edmondson (2022 Benson) – All-around 6-foot-1 combo guard who can knock down shots. Served as a nice third offensive option last season behind Kavon Bradford Kavon Bradford 6'2" | CG Benson | 2023 State OR and Cobee Crawford Cobee Crawford 6'0" | CG Benson | 2020 State OR but will have a bigger role this year.
Huxley Martin Huxley Martin 6'8" | PF Benson | 2022 OR (2022 Roosevelt) – 6-foot-8 big man transfer from Benson. Is a shot-blocking threat on defense but can step out and hit jumpers on offense, especially the corner three. Will be a key guy for the Roughriders in 2020-21.
