But there are several other returners ready to lead their teams. They are established performers who are ready to take the next step in their careers.
Here are some of the wings and bigs who are ready to lead Topeka teams in 2020-21 (listed in alphabetical order):
Harvey Davis, 2021, Shawnee Heights:
It just seems like Davis has been in the T-Birds lineup for half a decade. He played such a big role from his freshman year on that he seems like a constant on the Topeka hoops scene. Davis isn’t extremely tall for his role in the paint, but he has had a mature build and strength since day one. Once again he’ll be ready to overpower opponents on the block and use his athleticism to torment opposing big men.
Noah Hastert, 2022, Cair Paravel:
Hastert is far less an unknown than he was at this time a year ago. Cair Paravel turned some heads last winter. Then Hastert put together a solid summer against tough circuit competition. And now he’s putting up monster receiving numbers for the Lions’ football team. With Cair Paravel now approved by KSHSAA, Hastert will continue to gain recognition. Hastert is not frail, but at 6-foot-6 and just 190 pounds, he could stand to continue bulking up. He’s got great fundamentals and a calm, team-first demeanor.
Ty Henry Ty Henry 6'3" | SG Seaman | 2022 State KS , 2022, Seaman:
Henry has point guard talent, but at 6-foot-3 he can play just about anywhere. With so many young guards growing up together at Seaman, Henry will probably play more a wing role, although you can bet the ball will be in his hands at every possible opportunity. He can take the ball from end to end, create his own shots and distribute like a point guard. He showed this summer one of his strengths is backing an opposing guard into the lane, then spinning to drive or shoot.
Micah Kobuszewski, 2021, Seaman:
The 6-foot senior is one of the top shooters from the wing in the city. Seaman will really need leadership as it turns to so many young guards and inexperienced bigs. What Kobuszewski brings to the Vikings will go far beyond his ability to shoot. They need to learn to win.
