Height: 5’11 High School: Meskwaki 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 15.8/5.6/6.6 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 55/33/57
Taurice makes contributions in every aspect of the game, but I especially like his on-ball defense. He has active hands and is a nuisance for any opposing ball handler. He combines his slashing ability with good passing vision to create plays for the team.
Michael Alexander Michael Alexander 5'7" | PG Burlington | 2021 State IA
Height: 5’7″ High School: Burlington 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 15.4/3.3/3.8 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 44/37/78
The speedy point guard is a confident shooter, and for good reason. He has a quick release, and he has really stretched out his range, I assume to help get his shot off more often at 5’7″. He is excellent in transition and a good finisher in the lane.
Bryce Phelps Bryce Phelps 6'2" | PG Denver | 2021 State IA
Height: 6’2″ High School: Denver 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 15.4/5.5/4.2 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 48/36/88
Bryce turned in an excellent junior season for the Cyclones, but I especially like his ability to get in the lane and put his man in jail. He shows a lot of patience with the ball even when under some pressure. His efficiency numbers are impressive too, nearly 50% from the field, 36% from three-point range and 88%(!) from the line.
Alex Koppes Alex Koppes 6'0" | PG Springville | 2021 State IA
Height: 6’2″ High School: Springville 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 19.8/4.3/3.4 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 54/45/82
Alex is a very efficient offensive talent who uses his outside shooting to open up the drive, and his 3.3 steals/game is nothing to sneeze at either. He is adept at running off screens and shooting off the catch, and he has a very nice euro-move he uses often to finish inside.
Austin Bienerman Austin Bienerman 6'3" | PG Nashua-Plainfield | 2021 State IA
Height: 6’3″ High School: Nashua-Plainfield 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 19.5/8.8/4.7 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 47/28/64
The lengthy senior had a very impressive season a year ago. He was a very difficult matchup for most guards he faced due to his length. He was not afraid to venture into the post and seal the smaller defender, which often led to free throws. The mismatches showed up big time on the glass too, where Austin pulled down an impressive 8.8/game as a guard.
Jack Franey Jack Franey 5'7" | PG Martensdale-St. Marys | 2021 State IA
Height: 5’7″ High School: Martensdale – St. Mary’s 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 10.3/2.9/6.7 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 50/39/77
Jack’s traditional counting stats don’t paint the full picture of his offensive impact. He was an excellent initiator for the Blue Devils and he has nearly all the passes in his toolbox. The bullet to the weakside corner when coming off the screen and roll, the pocket and touch passes in the paint, the transition outlets that span the entire court. He has a pretty, high release that I think he should utilize more often. He was fourth for Martensdale-St. Mary’s in 3-point attempts, and that isn’t enough.
Garrett Baumhover Garrett Baumhover 6'0" | PG Western Dubuque | 2021 State IA
Height: 6’0″ High School: Western Dubuque 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 12.8/3.3/3.7 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 41/33/81
Garrett is a nice finisher at the rim thanks to his strength. He is able to absorb contact without it altering his body too much. Most of his assists result from patience, letting a play develop until a teammate finds a soft spot in the defense. He can slip around screens on defense and stay attached to his man.
