First, let’s take a look at Team 1 and Team 2.
Team 1:
Triston Walters (2023) – Providence St. Mel (IL)
Triston is a short, quick guard with plenty of mobility and really good court vision. He doesn’t yet look like a guy that can break you down, but he did show signs of some nifty moves to the rim. He does have a little strength on him right now, but he should continue to grow both in height and strength in the future. He controlled the offense and knocked down some shots from the outside, so he is definitely a player to watch in the coming seasons.
Justin Nichols (2023) – Lake Central (IN)
Dylan is a short and scrawny guard, but he played the point guard position very well. He has an unselfish mindset, and he seems to always be confident about knowing where the ball needs to go. He didn’t show us much in the scoring department, so I would like to see more before judging that. However, there were several bright spots in his game that should continue to improve over the coming seasons.
Kyron Kaopuiki Kyron Kaopuiki 6'3" | SG Homestead | 2023 State IN (2023) – Homestead (IN)
Kyron is a tall guard with some driving ability and a ton of length. He has a high basketball IQ, and he has great touch from anywhere on the court. When he did look to drive, he was pretty quick and smooth in the lane, and his finishing ability was top notch. He was strong and aggressive on the glass on both ends, and he hustled all over the court at all times. He showed many bright spots throughout the summer season, and he continued his successful summer this past weekend.
Joe Reidy Joe Reidy 6'7" | SF Woodlan | 2022 State IN (2022) – Woodlan (IN)
Joe is a long, lean wing with really good ball-handling and some improved scoring ability. He’s best when he can play in transition or on the wing in the half-court. At 6’7″, he has continued to grow and has the possibility to continue to grow. Inside, he was very aggressive on the glass, and he used his strength well inside to get to the hole and score the ball. He also showed off a smooth stroke from the mid-range. If he can continue to score the ball well, he is going to be a tough matchup for opponents in the coming season.
Team 2:
Drew Adzia Drew Adzia 5'9" | PG Crown Point | 2022 State IN (2022) – Crown Point (IN)
Drew is a small guard who played point guard well over the weekend. He had good court vision and was able to put the ball in the hoop when needed. He handled the pressure well and should stay on the ball. His jumper was solid, and he didn’t push the ball too much. However, he is still on the shorter side, so he needs to find a couple more ways to score.
Ifeanyi Ezeakudo Ifeanyi Ezeakudo 5'10" | PG Homestead | 2022 IN (2022) – Homestead (IN)
Ifeanyi is a solid lead guard with tons of length and some speed. He’s really quick in the open floor and decision making looks solid. He is a good athlete that should be able to grow and develop well. He is an interesting prospect to watch in the future, and his skills should improve in the years to come.
Jon Risi Jon Risi 6'3" | SF Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State MI (2022) – Notre Dame Prep (MI)
Jon is a tall guard with really good length and great shooting skills. He had great vision throughout the day, and he seemed to not miss a single shot. This was the first time that I had seen him play, but he complimented the size of Lisenbee very well to give a player for him to pass out for the shot. He had a very good weekend, and he is going to be a solid player for Notre Dame Prep in the coming years.
Antonio Lisebee (2022) – North Central (IN)
Antonio is a tall, strong big man inside, who knows how to use his strength to his advantage. He was very aggressive on the glass and was solid finishing his inside chances. On the defensive end, he had 4 or 5 weak-side blocks to come over for the help defense. He did have some dumb fouls inside, but overall, he was in the right place on the defensive end. His outside shot is nowhere near where his playstyle needs it to be as he forced multiple threes. However, if he can stick to playing inside, he has a tremendously high upside.
