Saturday was a good day for wings and several newer names put themselves on our radars for the future. Take a look at the best performers from Saturday in Mason.
Sohn McGee Sohn McGee 6'4" | SG Central Crossing | 2022 State OH (2022) Westland 6’5- McGee has a complete offensive bag and showed his ability to score in different ways. Slashing wing that can find the paint quickly and with few dribbles. Good pull-up jumper when the drive is taken away. Showed poise defending bigger guards/wings and is capable of successfully defending those bigger players.
Tyree Alexander (2021) Willoughby South 6’5- Alexander is an intriguing prospect as he has incredible size to go along with his slashing mentality. Has the size and frame to be a smaller PF, but handles the ball well and can handle pressure on the perimeter. Gifted passer and completed solid passes to teammates during the day. Could be a stronger prospect as he adds interior play.
Tom House Tom House 6'5" | SF Centerville | 2022 State OH (2022) Centerville 6’6- House stepped up as a defender Saturday and played hard, disruptive defense on the perimeter. Not afraid to pick up his man all 94 feet. Quick footwork and smart decision maker on-ball. Offensively continued to impress with his shooting touch as he is one of the best in the city of Dayton. Intriguing with his 6’6 frame and shooting touch.
Ben Southerland Ben Southerland 6'7" | PF Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy | 2022 State #247 Nation OH (2022) CHCA 6’7- Southerland was another defensive player Saturday and seemed to play well with House on the same team. Lengthy with his 6’7 frame, Southerland moves his feet well and creates issues as a defensive player. Offensively is a headache for defenses and a mismatch issue. Too tall for smaller wings to defend and versatile as a scorer. Showed improvement as a perimeter shooter.
Gavin Pryor (2022) Oakwood 6’4- Lengthy wing. Great shooting form and quick release. Can hit shots in a multitude of ways. Turns defense into offense and matches intensity of the guys around him. Could be worth watching for Oakwood this season.
