The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo hit Sioux Falls Sunday, as high school players from North and South Dakota braved the snow in an effort to get into the gym and compete.
With the floor spaced out and teams full of quality shooters and shot-creators plus facing teams with no continuity defensively, players with the ability to break down defenders and slash to the paint were put in great position to excel.
Here were some of the top slashers from the day
Porter Ihnen
Ihnen is an extremely intriguing young player and he showed on Sunday that he’s got all the tools to be a high impact guy down the line. Not only does he have the athletic profile to turn heads, but he showed flashes of some serious perimeter skill and a motor. He’s not a high dribble number guy, but when he had chances to attack a closeout or get into a gap against a rotating defense, he made it count and his length and skill allowed for good things to happen.
Chase Merrill Chase Merrill 6'3" | SG Canistota | 2021 State SDOne of the top players from Sunday, Merrill had a great day routinely breaking down defenses and getting to the basket. He’s got a tough-as-nails style with the ball and looked comfortable seeking out and playing through contact.
Connor Sauvage
Sauvage did a great job not only handling the ball and getting to the paint off the dribble, but also as a cutter, where his activity level opened a lot of things up. His energy was infectious for his team and his ability to play through contact, draw fouls and make plays made a big impact for his team in a lot of instances.
Kollin Ray
Ray showed off some smooth and pretty handles Sunday, routinely cooking primary defenders on the way to the paint. His ability to mix up moves kept defenders off balance consistently and he’s got the quickness to not only blow up first-row guys, but also beat help defenders to the basket and his ability to finish over length was impressive.
Darik Dissette Darik Dissette 6'4" | SG Minot | 2023 State #300 Nation NDDissette is an uber-smoother swingman who just has a knack for creating dribble-drive opportunities. He’s got the length to get past defenders, but also the burst and strength to go through people when necessary. His ability to get to the paint created numerous quality chances for him and his teammates.
