Jalen Womack Jalen Womack 6'2" | CG Menasha | 2022 State WI — 6-foot — Menasha
Womack caught my eye during the summer AAU season but Sunday was the first time I was really able to watch him closely. The point guard out of Menasha definitely made a case to be included in the next update of the 2022 class rankings. He made a couple of threes, passed the ball really well, and showed a quick first step. With many Division 3 programs scattered across the gym, it would not surprise me if starts to see his recruitment heat up.
Karson Mitchell Karson Mitchell 6'0" | PG Verona | 2022 WI — 6-foot — Verona Area
Mitchell saw his stock skyrocket on Sunday. Playing the true point guard position, Mitchell pushed the pace in transition and found open teammates on countless occasions. The pass-first PG was focused on getting his teammates involved early in games. But in the second half, a switch flipped. Mitchell started looking for his own shot. As a facilitator, he is very dangerous. But he also impressed as a scorer. Mitchell will look to find more success in the upcoming high school season.
Casey Verhagen Casey Verhagen 6'0" | PG Sheboygan Area Lutheran | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-1 — Sheboygan
I think that everybody around the state knows what Verhagen is all about. He is a terrific overall player who is very difficult to guard. He can score when necessary, but his biggest strength is his passing and dribbling skills. Verhagen is a wizard with the ball in his hands. He can find creative ways to dribble past his defender and then force the defense to collapse. Once that happens, it is almost a guarantee that the point guard will find a wide-open teammate waiting to throw up a three. Verhagen has proven that he is a Division 1 level talent.
Jack Campion Jack Campion 5'10" | PG Milton | 2022 State WI — 5-foot-11 — Milton
Similar to Verhagen, Campion is a pass-first guard who looks to get his teammates involved in the game. But unlike his Wisconsin Playground Club teammate, Campion relies on his speed to find success on the basketball court. In transition, the PG is a very dangerous weapon. His speed combined with his tight handle makes Campion almost unguardable on the fast break. His size does limit him in a couple of ways, but pound for pound, the Milton point guard is one of the best players in the state.
Asanjai Hunter Asanjai Hunter 5'10" | PG The Prairie School | 2022 State WI — 5-foot-10 — The Prairie School
Playing on a loaded Wisconsin Sharks team this AAU season, Hunter faded into the background too many times. That didn’t happen on Sunday at the Top 250 Expo. Despite being a smaller guard, Hunter still does a great job of making shots. I also saw a lot of fight in the PG. He was working really hard to get offensive rebounds and play tough defense.
Richie Murphy — 5-foot-10 — Cameron
Murphy was not a player that I expected to include on this list before the event. But I have to give credit where credit is due. The Cameron point guard made some beautiful passes and had a terrific finish at the rim. In the handful of minutes that I saw him play, Murphy was one of the best players on the court.
