Each team played three games and I was lucky enough to get to work the event and coach which ever team came to me on court 3. Here our my seven upperclassman standouts from that court during those six different sets of games.
Aiden Rubio 6’6 Goodrich 2021-I made the joke on twitter that MSA fieldhouse had to put in new rims after the event after how hard Aiden was dunking, and he does dunk like he is made at the rim, but he is much, much more than that. He is long and skilled; he can shoot it from the outside just as easily as he can score inside. He is one of the best unsigned wing players left in the 2021 class.
Keyon Menifield Keyon Menifield 6'2" | PG Flint Beecher | 2021 State MI Jr. 6’2 Flint Beecher 2021-Keyon just got his first division one offer, Cleveland State, but I looked in my crystal ball and it says it will not be his last. He does a great job of running the show and is a good passer and ball handler, but he also really knows how to put the ball in the basket. He continues to crow and with his long arms he can be an excellent defender both on and off the ball.
Brady Titus Brady Titus 5'10" | PG Tri-Unity Christian | 2022 State MI 5’11 Tri-Unity Christian 2022-I cannot lie, I am a big fan of Brady. I have been lucky enough to work with him a good amount over the last two years at different camp and watch him play many AAU games all over the Midwest and it makes me happy I still get two more years of it. He controls tempo so well; he can just run the show and get everyone involved and be the great passer and ball handler that he is. But when you need him to score, he can score. He gets to the basket well and he is also an outstanding three-point shooter. He also has a great one dribble pull up. He is just a special point guard.
Max Burton Max Burton 6'10" | SF Williamston | 2022 State MI 6’9 Williamston 2022-It is great to be 6’9 and long enough to defend, rebound and score in the post in basketball. It is also great to be a knock down three-point shooter being in your range as soon as you step in the gym. So that must mean, it is awesome to be both. Max is both. He is a lights out shooter, who has improved his ball handling skills and can still score inside without a problem using his length. He is starting to receive division one offers, and he will only get more attention.
Owen Hardy 6’8 Forest Hills Eastern 2022-I have seen Owen play before, but without a doubt for the day he was the player that surprised me the most with how he played. He had a great day and did so many good things. He is long and skilled, sure, but he also has a great motor, he can put the ball on the floor, and he can shoot it.
Carson Sanders Carson Sanders 6'5" | CG Hanover Horton | 2022 State MI 6’4 Hanover-Horton 2022-Carson is just a guy that can do it all for you. He can guard anyone on the floor because he is smart, tough, and athletic. He can put the ball in the basket for you, and he is a good passer and rebounder on both ends of the floor. Carson like a lot of these players were playing in an event for back to back days, and that can be tough on the legs, but Carson showed no signs of it and made the right basketball play all game long.
Austin Van Elst Austin Van Elst 6'8" | PF Thornapple Kellogg | 2021 State MI 6’7 Thornapple Kellogg 2021-It is really hard to actually just pick seven upperclassman standouts that I saw during the day, and that is just taking in to account the teams that came to my court, but I felt like I had to mention Austin as one of them. He is so long and skilled and just always plays at his own pace under control. He can score in the paint with either hand or step out and knock down the outside shot, and he can rebound and defend for you as well.
