The 2021 Palmetto State really got short changed this past summer with the Covid-19 Pandemic. Some players decided not to play at all this summer during these trouble times. Lets take a look at small forwards who you might want to keep a eye on for the future.
Brandon Brantley Brandon Brantley 6'4" | SF Wade Hampton | 2021 State SC – Wade Hampton HS (Hampton) (pictured on the front)
Brantley plays down off the grid in Hampton County near the Georgia border. Brantley didn’t play any Grassroots ball this past summer during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Brantley helped the Red Devils get to the Class 3A State Championship before running into a very talented Keenan HS team.
Brantley a long and rangy forward would have played travel ball with TMP if they decided as a organization to play this past summer. Brantley rebounds the ball well from his his position and shows good versatility on the floor. Brantley averaged 16.4 ppg last season for the Red Devils. Brantley can hit the 17-19 footer on the perimeter and remains really active on the floor away from the ball.
Dreveon Scott Dreveon Scott 6'3" | SG Marlboro County | 2021 State SC – Marlboro County HS (Bennettsville)
Scott came on last season for the Bulldogs after averaging 11.5 ppg and 7 rebounds. Scott can defend almost every position on the floor with his versatility. Scott is very resourceful on the floor if it means to get a basket, rebound, a deflection or just about anything he will do it. Scott and the Bulldogs will play in Class 3A this coming after moving down a classification.
Cameron Henley Cameron Henley 6'3" | SF North Myrtle Beach | 2021 State SC – North Myrtle Beach HS
Henley is a great role guy here for the Chiefs and just brings good effort to the table. Henley plays extremely hard (Chiefs trademark) under Head Coach Ryan Walker. Henley is versatile enough to play on the perimeter and defend while being above average athlete. Henley was able to finish on few drives to the basket on contact.
Tyrin Dixon Tyrin Dixon 6'2" | SG Charleston Math & Science | 2021 State SC – Charleston Math & Science
Dixon could play in the back court off the ball if need be. Dixon helped the Riptide get to the Class 1A Lower State Championship Game last season before falling to Scott’s Branch HS. Dixon a left-handed guard-wing was able to set up shop from the corners at times with his shot. Dixon averaged 10.3 ppg and 5.4 rebounds last season for the Riptide.
