With that in mind, it’s bound to happen that we see and hear of some names that aren’t too familiar. Here’s five who we got acquainted with, really fast. Check out a few of the new names we learned from the Expo.
Giovanni Toscanini Giovanni Toscanini 6'4" | CG Lake Mary | 2022 State FL | 6-3 | Lake Mary
Just a junior, Gio showed that he’s capable of being a top-three option for Lake Mary, this season. He did a great job of penetrating the paint and getting some tough shots at the rim to fall. He drives through the lane with zero of being fouled or turning the ball over. On the offensive glass, Gio positions himself well enough to grab a board and add extra possessions for his team. Look out for him, this winter.
Jordan Hinds | 6-4 | Cypress Bay
Hinds was a guy who was able to get it done on both ends of the floor, without question. Loved how aggressive he was when driving to the cup. The 2021 wing can take the hit and finish with contact. His first step off-the-dribble is quick enough to blow past defenders, with ease. On the defensive end, Hinds can come up with a steal using his active hands and stifling on-ball D. Excited to see how he Hinds affects his Cypress Bay squad for the better, this season.
Miles Stewart | 6-7 | Lakeland Prep
This senior wingman has some range on him! Stewart has no problem stepping out and hitting the deep trey. He was able to impact the game with his jumper throughout the day. In the post, he showed great patience lulling defenders to sleep with a move or two, then sinking a sweet reverse. Stewart is a guy who will do some great things for Lakeland Prep this upcoming year.
Dalton Robinson Dalton Robinson 6'7" | PF Lake Howell | 2021 State FL | 6-7 | Lake Howell
I mentioned Robinson earlier in our “Stock Risers” series from the 250, but his game is worth talking about twice. The senior big man is an absolute terror in the paint who fights for every rebound, possible. He battles for layups knows how to use his body to create space in the post, and will slam it with authority if you don’t foul him on the fastbreak. Defensively, don’t go up soft—he’ll block the shot, no question. Lake Howell is going to see some great play from Robinson in his final year.
Andre Carter Jr Andre Carter Jr 6'3" | CG Leesburg | 2022 State FL | 6-2 | Leesburg
Carter was doing a little bit of everything for his squad at the Expo. The junior guard can step out and hit the trey from either the corner or the wing. On the offensive glass, he’s able to snag with quickness and immediately rise back up for the second-chance bucket. Carter was a presence on the defensive glass, as well. He should be a pivotal piece for the Yellow Jackets, this season.
