If a did here are four matchups I would like to see based on the players slated to attend on Sunday.
Max Burton Max Burton 6'10" | SF Williamston | 2022 State MI 6-9 2022 Williamston and Peyton LaCombe Peyton LaCombe 6'8" | PF Ludington | 2022 State MI 6-8 2022 Ludington This is an instance of contrasting styles facing off. Burton is a fast rising prospect who is a tall but slender wing prospect. LaCombe is a little under the radar as he plays with an out of state but prominent AAU squad (Illinois Wolves) Burton has perimeter skills not often seen in a player his size. LaCombe is already an elite and tested defender. Does he have the perimeter foot speed to shut down Burton out on the wing and in transition? In turn if LaCombe decides to go down to the block does Burton have the strength to neutralize him and keep him off the boards. If it materializes I will be watching.
Carter Alexander Carter Alexander 6'1" | PG Chelsea | 2023 State MI 6-1 2023 Chelsea and Joey Cabana 6-1 2024 Chelsea These two future teammates will have a chance to go against each other Sunday. Due to their Twitter handles I have dubbed the “bucket backcourt”. Needless to say they can both really fill it up. Alexander is a little more of a traditional point guard with deep range on the perimeter. Alexander had a very good summer with the REACH 2023 squad. Cabana is a powerful scoring guard who is an excellent penetrator and is fearless going to the basket. Whatever happens on Sunday one thing should be pretty clear. The future of the Chelsea basketball, program is very bright. Chelsea will also have 2023 Matt Blanton Matt Blanton 6'3" | SG Chelsea | 2023 State MI participating as well. I’m excited to get my first in-person look at him.
Trinidad Chambliss Trinidad Chambliss 6'2" | PG Forest Hills Northern | 2021 State MI 6–0 2021 Forest Hills Northern and George Hatchett George Hatchett 5'10" | CG Forest Hills Central | 2021 State MI 5-10 2021 Forest Hills Central The next round in the battle for Forest Hills could take place if these two squared off. Chambliss is the highest ranked 2021 prospect slated to participate so you know what you are getting there. Speed, speed, and some more speed. I did see him much this summer so I am excited to see how he is coming along. Chambliss’ break junior campaign began at the 250 Expo so he’s returning to familiar territory. Hatchett’s game is different. He’s built a little more on strength rather speed. He will be moving into more of a featured role with the graduation of Jimmy Scholler Jimmy Scholler 6'4" | SG Forest Hills Central | 2020 State MI (Ferris St). He had a good summer playing with MBA National and this could be a springboard for a big senior season.
