Amillion Buggs Amillion Buggs 6'4" | SF Wausau West | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-3 — Wausau West
I think that Prep Hoops Wisconsin’s Evan Flood put it best when he said that Buggs is a human highlight reel. The 6-foot-3 small forward has undoubtedly blossomed into one of the state’s most exciting players to watch. He is capable of throwing down a big dunk on offense or swatting a shot into the bleachers on defense. I was super impressed with what Buggs was able to do during the summer AAU season. And on Sunday, he once again showed some flashes that suggest he could become one of the top forwards in the state.
Noah Compan Noah Compan 6'5" | SF La Crosse Central | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-5 — La Crosse Central
In my opinion, Compan hands down was one of the better 2022 prospects in attendance. He was shooting the ball really well from three and also was able to finish at the rim with ease. The athletic small forward played great defense, as he blocked shots and used his length to slow down the player he was guarding. With La Crosse Central losing so much talent from last year, look for Compan to have a breakout season.
Carter Thomas Carter Thomas 6'5" | PF Neenah | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-5 — Neenah
Thomas isn’t super athletic or fast, but he still is able to use his long arms to finish really well at the rim. He is able to finish through or around contact, depending on what the situation requires. You don’t see too many power forwards making effort plays like Thomas does, either. He is a great defender who can use his long wingspan to deflect passes and really make offense tough for the opposing team. With Neenah losing some players due to graduation, I expect Thomas to step up and become one of the best players in the FVA.
Najashi Tolefree Najashi Tolefree 6'6" | SF West Allis Central | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-5 — West Allis Central
Tolefree has the potential to become a division one level talent. The small forward is super athletic, long, and strong. From what I saw on Sunday, Tolefree has not completely found his identity on offense. However, if he continues to develop, he could end up becoming an unstoppable force with the ball in his hands. This upcoming high school season, I would encourage college coaches to watch Tolefree very closely.
Nathan Gapinski Nathan Gapinski 6'6" | PF Watertown | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-6 — Watertown
I saw Gapinski convert on some beautiful finishes at the rim on Sunday at the Expo. I really like how the 6-foot-6 small forward played inside out. He began games by attacking the rim. Because defenders were so afraid of him blowing by them, he then had space to shoot open threes. The forward still has a lot of room to grow, too. If he continues to get better, he could become a really good player in college.
Maximus Nelson Maximus Nelson 6'7" | PF Appleton North | 2022 State #236 Nation WI — 6-foot-8 — Appleton North
I really like the way that Nelson is developing. A couple of years ago, he mostly floated around on the perimeter and shot threes. But on Sunday, I saw him grab more rebounds and score more buckets in the paint. If Nelson is able to get some tighter handles, then I think he can become a high major prospect. At the Expo, he was able to display his full skillset against some pretty stiff competition.
